I'm pretty sure you can kill him, though its not a good idea. The whole point of the game is to save him and his always protected. I suppose if you had a good enough character you could though.

well, I'm not sure if you can kill him. In the distant past when I still played Cythera everyday I remember trying to kill him with some of my characters. If I remember correctly I wasn't able to even hit him properly with my warrior and magic didn't seem to have much of an effect. It was either that or he just wouldn't die no matter how much I hit him. And I think he had an almost unlimited amount of mana for his spells....
