Well? Do you know? Because I hope that they do.

The Delever engine is almost dead. Glenn Andreas is promising us Cythera II or Cythera III later. (See one of his posts) If you nag him like this, he's not going to feel any more like making them. Shut up, and you might get something.

I'm fairly tired with questions about the Cythera editor / Delever engine. No, no, no! Jeez, I can predict the answer. Posted Image

There are no plans to release a Cythera editor, for more reasons that is worth explaining.

If you are interesting in creating a role playing game, check out Coldstone. The engine may not be suited to the exactly same sort of game as the Delver engine is, but the editor is so much easier to use.

There are, however, projects using a modified version of the current Delver engine that I'd like to do (for example, a couple of Cythera add-on that I think would be fun). There are also projects with a new version of the engine I'd like to do (which would include Cythera II and III), or spin-offs of the current engine (details of which I won't mention). And there are projects not at all related to the Delver engine that I'd like to do. All of these, mind you, are in the realm of "like to do", not "currently doing".

The problem, however, is one of time and energy. My schedule doesn't currently allow for the development of a large project (like most of the the above mentioned things would be), and to be honest, it's not clear that the return on investment for others of the above mentioned things would be worthwhile either. It's also not clear that I even have the energy to go through what it would take to tackle one of the major projects and be able to release something of the quality it deserves.

That being said, I'd hate to see none of these ideas/projects I've got get developed - I've got some really cool things that you'd all enjoy (there are also some design decision that I made in the Delver engine that I'm kicking myself for - for example, if I had handled the storage of objects a bit differently, I could create some add-ons with extra places to explore, etc...)

I am also currently playing with a potential sequel to a different game (completely unrelated to Cythera). I've actually got the basics of it up and running now, under both 9 and X, and hope to get an editor working in the next week or two. If this is ever released, and in what form (it could be as the sequel, or as a game that shares some story elements from Cythera) is completely undecided. At this point, I'm just doing this for fun, so don't hold your breath, and don't bother asking for more details. I will neither confirm nor deny any speculations - I'm not making a commitment to anything here, just passing along current information that you might find interesting.

...but if his schedule is so busy as he says, wasting hours on the webboard won't help any. Perhaps its better this way, the more time he spends here is more time we have to wait before he gets time to finish another add-on. Posted Image

You'd be amazed at what's possible in twenty minutes. It's a lot of time to spare out of a busy schedule, even though most people don't think so (but please note I'm not trying to blame anybody).

The key here is to make more time. Get up at six, you might be surprised how much time you can gain. You could, also, use I temporal resequencer to do the job. If you have one.

I get up at 3 - 4:30 AM. Posted Image I get plenty of time to work on stuff. (unfinshed homework, the webboards, REALBasic, IRC, ect.) School starts at 8:40 AM, and I need to get off the computer by 7, so I get 4 - 3 and a half hours to do stuff.

Well, Bryce, I happen to like REALBasic. I used it since it was in the prelimanary stages, version F4. I know someone who wrote a working bot for IRC that did blowfish enciphering in REALBasic, and he wrote it in 30 minutes. Just goes to show..
