What does this spell do? Does it even do anything? I thought it might be to catch that guy in Catamarca that everyone thinks is lying, but I beat the game and never used it once.

Well, you can beat the game without using any spells, but I see what you mean: I never used it either.

You can beat the game without spells, but you need Remote Manipulation (or Fetch Posted Image) to get into the Tyrant's Tomb.

Using fetch would be cheating, and if you are going to cheat you might as well hack, that's what I did. I did do the maze puzzel and bells normaly, they we're fun.

Me: Watch out for the spikes.
Hector : Hua? Ouch!
Melager: What Hector? Ouch! Ahh, my foot!
Me: *Sigh*
You get the idea.

I beat the game before I even knew about the whole Fetch bug. Which makes me realize, can you bypass the swamp ruin's problems with fetch? Has anyone else even done them? What a sad world hacking has brought us Posted Image

Me: Aethon, disarm that blasted spike trap!
Aethon: Oh, all right, if you insist.

I didn't use Fetch for the swamp ruins (or the rest of the game); I DID use Slayer's guide, though. Don't how it would have worked out, otherwise.

I tried Ascertainment once, on one of the Kosha boys - the one that was always with Berossus. Other than confirming that he was lying through his teeth (which I'd already figured) it didn't help much at all - couldn't do anything with the knowledge. The only magic I used much was healing, embrightenment and other vision related spells, unlock, remove magelock, directed nexus, the odd mystic arrow, remote manipulation ONCE, and deathstrike. Everything else is pretty much a waste of time.

Acertainment can be used to detect lying, in fact I've seen it myself. Try talking to Myus in a new game with it on. Almost everything he says is a lie.

While using fetch is cheating it comes in handy if you don't want to make the effort of getting all the Sapphire Books, among other things

Well, like I said above, you don't need spells at all... and there is some other way without using fetch (although its still cheating). I can't remember what it is, or who first found it, but it involves keeping a container open on top with the book while talking to Selinus...

But how can you see if it's a lie? I wanna know! Does the text turn red or something?

As I recall, it posts a little message at the bottom of the 'conversation' box saying 'so-and-so is lying'. It's been a while, though, so I could be wrong.

Cache is right. A little box appears and says something like "he appears to be lying, or at least not telling the truth."

Rogan: you've got 15 karma Posted Image Does this mean you get moki's 'award'?
