Sephiroth, dont u think u should use som puncktuation once an a while
After all, use of periods and commas, ect, goes a long way towards letting people understand what you want to say.

Sorry, Sephiroth, I thought you'd already given up on that. I've got a story coming up that follows on from the last one, so I asked everyone to hang around the tavern rather than rush off.
A couple of points:
1. I really don't think it's a good idea to try starting a story unless you've participated in a couple, to get a feel for how things are done on this board; and also to allow other posters to get to know (and maybe like ) your character.
2. The latest stories have been forming a 'continuous tapestry', each continuing from and/or building on the last. The way your story begins is almost an 'intrusion', totally isolated from other events.
The tavern is a good place to start to introduce a character, without getting too involved too quickly; actually, since there are no active stories, right now it's the ONLY place to introduce a character.
Don't give up, but pay attention to everything that people have said - punctuation, etc. If you want to participate, we're the ones you don't want to annoy, after all!

Also, try not to make too many stories at once. As I remeber, when you started your's, there were about three others that were in progress. Most people don't want to have that many things to do at once. I remember posting in two at once, and it was challenging. My suggestion would be to wait until there are no other stories in progress (or there is one, but it doesn't have very many people in it) before starting a new one.

Yes, the points people brought up before are good ones.
However, one to certainly emphasize is spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. People who would become coherent, interesting, and contributing members of a team story are generally scared away by what they detect as obvious 'newbie'ishness, often expressed through aolspeak ('u', etc). They think that contributing to such stories will go nowhere, and even cheapens their own reputation.
In general, it's a good idea to try and improve your typing on the internet, as it makes a huge difference in how people perceive you.
Sorry if I was redundant on things you didn't know, just stating some facts...

Also, when he started it, there was a almost identical story topic; mine. Come on. The name is very similar to mine, and since many people were posting and viewing my topic, well, you'd expect a newbie to copy a regular's idea. (I really am.) So, another point on no replies.

Ah, so then the Taring-and-fethering was justified. Okay then.

The game buzzer has sounded, Talos wins the prize. Too bad its just crap. But what he says is absolutely correct in every way. Another good way to get others to come in is to make a great intro. Use amusement, use astonishment, use treasure, use something. Humor goes a long way but can be surpassed by a very good post. Avatara could give you a few pointers if you need to know.
