Neato, then I could always just merge topics back in.

Ever so handy for when topics go on a serious tangent and others want to get back on-topic. Or maybe useful for spin-offs.

Lots of nifty things here, I can even hide posts from public viewing. And there's stickies too.

Sorry, mental note: excessive sugar = bad.

Just posting to say Half Truth and myself will not be around for the next few days, we're off on a sailing adventure on the high seas of lakes Entrance; pirate style!

Yarr!

:P

Hey, wait a minute, I didnt create this topic

Invision lets a moderator split a topic, and Avatara was just trying that feature out. You made that post in another thread.

This board's features are like a moderator heaven, in a way. :P

The "report" button will be nice, for when some member catches something inappropriate (like another person posting porn links in the faq) that a moderator hasn't seen. Makes it easier than tracking down somebody on AIM and having them bring it up in the WR.

Though, a few features seem odd...I mean, I can edit polls. Is there a point in me editing the number of votes?

I suppose, if you think someone's managed to vote multiple times. Does voting work without logging in? We've never tried that, since GD is a closed board.

I don't believe so. Most boards no, a few boards yes - it depends on the board I guess, but I think its disabled by default. Possibly based on if you have to be logged in to post.

Whoa, that merging feature is somewhat kinky. I can merge post content from various topics into one post, choose the date it was posted, and who the author credit can go to.

Not sure how to merge topics yet. I'll need a few "guinea pig" topics before I play around with that though, the ones currently in existence are probably not play-material.

Never mind, though unlike merging posts, it simply dumps the newest topic into the oldest topic. Dunno how it'll work out with different times.

Merging topics combines them into the oldest topic, and all posts are ordered by posting time.

Well, if you want a worthwhile project, you might consider cleaning up the Character Info topic. Many of the characters in there are no longer in active use, but still worth keeping for historical reasons. So, you could split out the active profiles for a pinned Character Info topic, and leave older ones in a different topic.

For some reason, your avatar reminds me of Tyrael bringing down his sword.

Ratings are currently private. I can't see anyone's but mine, even here.

I hear they're working on a new and improved karma system, though just how improved is up in the air.

Behind the scenes Part 2:
Sneak peek at the new mod abilities involving "karma".

In the past the karma system on the mod end was a simple button (kinda like the vote option buttons) asking if I wanted to warn or praise someone, and then a text box for an optional method.

While the current and future karma system isn't entirely hammered out, there's a lot more power behind it. (so much it sort of made andrew nervous, but it seems to be the only way to get it to work right, at the moment) For those of you that don't run your invision boards, how about a screenshot of what the new warning/praising window looks like: Attached File  Warn.jpg (71.88K)
Number of downloads: 95

Its something that would make Tim Taylor ecstatic.

I didn't actually do anything, I just brought up the window via the little red button (heh, fitting color). I want to test out some of the more minor stuff sometime, but I would ask your permission before I did that.* :P Especially since clicking on your number brings up an entire history of your warnings and who warned what.

*Or maybe I could dredge up my old Trundaylan account again and play with him.

I'm sorta scared to try out the "report post" feature, because andrew and gandreas also mod the forums, and it might spam their inbox.

With v1.3 at least, reports go to all admins, but not mods.

Well, I was reading the description of the report feature:

Please note: The moderator will be made aware of the link to the post and the topic title.

Besides, on some boards the admin would be overwhelmed by reports, so breaking it down to the mod level makes sense. Guess I should give it a go anyway.

Come to think of it, most of our forums don't have mods, which might be why the reports only go to the admins.

Hm, the "active in" feature makes it much easier to stalk a victim around the forums.

Yup, I've done a bit of that myself. Something I kind of missed when Aresaxis switched from Invision to phpBB.

Why did they do that? PhpBB << Invision
