Is the only way to damage your karma to steal things? Is it considered stealing only when it says "your deeds stain your soul"? Hmmmmmmmmmm...............

Yes. There might be another way when you attack a villager, but I'm not sure. Raising your karma is when you complete missions, I think.

To lower:
Kill people (guards and townspeople)
Steal things
Kill farm animals

To raise:
kill ruffians
finish quests (cure plague and rescue araine come to mind)
I also believe it goes up with time (several days I'd opt to think)

punishments (for bad karma):
Guards attack you
people won't talk to you (or so i've heard)
people won't sell you things

Hope this helps. Posted Image

Hmm... I have a character where I've completed everything, and is impossible to kill. With that character, I wiped out Odemias population, most of Cademias population and Koshas population. Then I talk to people but my name doesn't seem to be very dark at all...
Have I done to many good things in my past?
Am I using a too old version of Cythera?

Ohh! I know why it isn't that dark!

It's not your name that gets dark, it's your portrait!

Again, hope this helps.

Karma is shown by how dark/bright your {I thought it was name} when you are talking to people. But maybe it's your portrait.?.?.
It starts out grey, and gets more white for good things done and more black for the blackness in your heart as you kill everyone in the whole intire Cytheran continent and continue on for the rest of the world, ruling with an iron fist and never backing down! *whew* Posted Image

Hope this helps.

Does this mean that you can tell the karma status of others by looking at their portraits?
