Cythera is really based on the Greek Mythology. Cythera is actually an island of the coast of ancient Greece. Bellerephon is a hero but is a mortal (I'm not exactly sure what he did though). Aethon is one of Helios's (sun god) horses horses. Want more? Go to http://www.pantheon....ca/areas/greek/

As I recall Hector was a Greek hero who was slain by Paris (prince of Troy) or something along those lines.

Talos would probably know more about it, he's more into that kinda stuff than I am.

He is even named after someone in a certain Greek myth. (Do some reading on the Minotaur)
Although there it is Talus or something like that, I guess just bad Greek to English translation.

Hi, just popping in from lurk mode!

FYI: Bellerophon was Sisyphus' grandson (the guy who's stuck rolling a huge stone up a hill forever). He tamed Pegasus, killed the Chimaera, and beat an army of Amazons. He met his doom when he tried to fly Pegasus to Mt. Olympus without an invitation, and the gods sent a gadfly to sting Pegasus. Bellerophon fell off. *ouch!*

Popping back out *pop!*

Shea: Welcome to the web boards!

Bellerophon was a hero who killed a dragon ,by dropping hot lead down its throat, while sitting on top of the flying horse Pegasus.

Actually Hector was a Trojan and was the eldest son of Prian, king of Troy, and the brother of Paris. He was slain by Achilles in revenge for his slaying of Patroculus, Achillies best friend. Prian subsequently bought Hectors body back from Achillies and Paris later shot Achillies in the heel with an arrow. Paris himself was later shot by a arrow poisened by Hydra blood (the arrow came from the bow of Hercules and was fired by this Greek guy whose nae escapes me).

Oh yeah. Paris and Hector had a sister Cassandra who crops up in Pynx as a student at some point.

another thing from greek mythology is the river styx. it was the river of death that perseus crossed on the ferry with the skeleton to get to medusa's place. and the scylla was actually a female that lurked in cave ceilings, waiting for anything edible to pass beneath. and i think the hydra is actually charibdis (i think i spelled that right), which lived in the sea and sucked in the water and anything in its vicinty. the one other thing i remember from the greek unit in my english class is that harpies are giant birds with the head of a woman. they sang a seductive song to force men to follow them to them so they could kill them (or something like that).

River Styx is in the underworld (Hades) and is what all mortals who died would have to cross. The skeleton ferriman, Charan, puts his hand out for an obol. The Scylla is a sea monster and if you read The Odyssey you'd know about it. Also Charybdis is a maelstrom (whirlpool) that sucked anything that went in it. Sirens are the part bird part woman beings who sang a song that lured sailors into their trap. I'm not sure if they are called harpies too though.

Yeah, harpies are there too. They would seduce men to come near them, and then they would eat them alive.

If you look closely, almost all stories (including games) that are supposed to have 'old' scenery and the like are based on Greek mythology. After all, that's kinda what society today came from.

I didn't mean to offend you if I did. Its just a little joke between me and Rogan from 7 months ago, when we started posting here. (and about the time things like the tavern and the stories started popping up)
