I'm just wondering what other people think is the best way to develop a character. ie, high in melee combat, ranged combat, offencive spells, defensive spells, usefull abilities(non-combat related), or a combination of some of these.

Also, becase I'm trying to conserve space and I'm lazy, why was - Part II: Onslaught - stopped?

Does this refer only to Cythera, or also to other RPGs?

I don't have much use for melee combat, I prefer fighting from a distance (ranged weapons or offensive spells), or not fighting at all. Some abilities are also fun (no, I'm not talking about fishing Posted Image ) like thieving skills (lock-picking).

That's just it. Too many people were too lazy to post. (after over a month, I was tired of only me and Talos contributing)

Hmmm...I see what you mean.

IMO: (skip if you don't care)
Still, I guess it was doomed from the beggining. Once Again was an intirely different world from Onslaught. OA was about the war of Talos against all others, mainly Pynx and LKH. Now, there are new, abstract enemies that are hard to work with, a horde of new characters, friends that used to be enemies (Talos), and a new main setting (the Castle). They aren't really related in any way. The newcomers don't feal like they owe anything to the story, and the people from OA have a specific mind set as to how thing should be done that is hard for the newcomers to grasp at first glance. At least, that's how I see it. Also, I don't think it help that people make their characters to powerfull Posted Image

As for me? I'm waiting for a good place for a new character of mine to enter. And I really want LKH to collapse already! Posted Image
(end of opinion)

As for the other part of this thread, I was originaly thinking of just Cythera, but now that you mention it, other rpgs would be find, too.

As a general outline, my personal favorites are archers as first (except in Cythera where bows n' arrows suck) with maybe a little bit of stealth/thieving skills, and offencive mad mages as second. You know, the kind that blast everything they see Posted Image

Yep, and looking back in disgust on my greed in ambition, the places where I severly screwed up the story are so evident, I might as well walk into an elephant for something less obvious. Onslaught's failure was my fault, as most people were waiting for me to post my idea of the whole plot, with two/three subplots in between. Oh well, where Onslaught failed, I've made sure others suceeded. (well somewhat, I wasn't too happy with my influence in the Quest for the Homeworld)

I fully take the blame for the destruction of that story, and only my gut (and a previous mistake) have prevented me from deleting it secretly, instead of publicly locking it. (one of the reasons why I waited a bit so as not to attract too much attention)

I hope fully, and truly, with the new year/millenium upon us, I can better live up to Andrew's expectations. Looking at some of the posts in the past that Andrew told Slayer what he is expected to do, I seem like I've done quite the opposite. Yes, hopefully I'm undergoing a change...for the better.

If you don't want to read all that, I was apologizing for being an immature jerk and "abusing" my moderator privilages.

Erm. Umm....erm. Umm....when did you abuse moderator privileges, and be a jerk?

Ya, your too hard on yourself, Avatara. Now step back into the bar, have a drink or two, and realize how good of a moderator you are. I mean, in Onslaught, it wasn't all your fault (or even mostly your fault), and I never ment it that way. And I think in Once Again you did a smashing job on working out a good plot to follow. d (That's supposed to be a thumbs-up sigh, and I mean that in the newer way, not the Roman way)

Yes, I have, and I noticed. But I also know it's out of character for you. Believe me, I know firsthand what being an ass means.

You'd see me in that attitude if you actually paid attention (that's the key here Posted Image) to some of my earlier posts.

*claps hands*

Anyway, this topic has strayed too much.

I personally prefer a person high in defense, spells, mana, and somewhat good melee attacking...as it doesn't need ammo. Posted Image

I prefer very high mana, a small ammount of defense, and a small ammount of swordfighting skills.
