The reason I made this is because I'm new with Cythrea and I'd like to share my knowledge. And steal yours.

You can get a good free supply of flatbread (if you know how to make anything else, please tell me!) with things you can get from land king hall.
First go to the kitchen (to the east of room you start in) and talk to the cook. Ask her about food and she'll ask if you're hungry, if you say yes, you'll get a random food item.
Say "Train" and if you have any traning Points (You get more as you gain exp.) She will teach you how to cook! You use the bag of flour on a surface, and add water from a pail (Use it on a source of water and it will fill) and it will turn into dough, then use the rolling pin on it and it will be ready to bake! Use it on a stove and it will turn into flatbread.
I know it's easier to just keep asking her for food, but you can take the bag of flour, the rolling pin, and the water pail and she won't object. (note that you can also take those potions in the room with the nexus thing but I don't know what good they do) Plus it's lame to just keep asking her for food like a little baby.

Also, if you "use" a pail on a goat, it fills with milk, which you can use on a butter churn and get a stick of butter! mmmmmm... Good right out of the goat!

Here is how to recruit someone.
If you're not allready there, go to land king hall. Say "Come" to the warrior boy who's allways going back and forth in the hallway north of your room, and he'll tell you that he shouldn't go without his father's permission (some warrior) then talk to his father (the guard that's allways folowing the sick person arround) and he'll say it's okay. then say "come" to the boy again, and he will! now you have someone to help you get into the abandoned farmhouse and kill those ruffians!

The potions in the nexus room:
Blue: Lets you see the whole map.
Red: Protection against heat.
Green: Cures confusion (i think).
Brown: Makes your character awake.
Grey: Cures hunger.
Purple: Cures poisoning.
Black: Restores magic, but takes away some health.
White: Restores hit points.
BTW, I think everyone knows the things you have posted, Madman...
I killed the ruffians without Hector

My guide to Cythera contains a great deal of knowledge about Cythera. It's linked in my signature. I recommend viewing the "Some tricks to make the game easier" section.

Magic is a good investment of training points. Once you have high enough mana and casting, magic becomes equally as affective(if not more) as fighting. Plus, it comes in handy when getting the Sword of Heros. To get higher level spells(such as Fire Ball,Death Strike, etc) you have to find the Sapphire books of Wisdom. If you talk to the Libarian, for ever two Sapphire Books he will give you the password to a hall of spells. However you can some good spells from the desk in your room.
I'm just stating the obvious.

This just isn't my strong point.

Actually, getting "Death Strike" is easy. You get a free scroll of it on your table in the very beginning (in your room at LandKing hall). Just keep it around till you get your grimoire, then use it on the scroll. Voila, you know death strike!

Or, just wait until you get replicate, then replicate the scroll. Death strike with no mana used up!

Welcome!
Look around for levers. They are often hidden under plants, chests, etc. Some doors need a special tune to be played for them before they open...you`ll find out about that later.
