What is a "special key",how do you get it and how do you use it???

It this round thing with eight circles on it that change from white to some other color (I forget what) in different patterns when you press the three buttons at the bottom.

Press the buttons until the pattern on it matches the patterns you find on pedestals in several places in Cythera.

Oh, yeah, the "strange device"! I`m well familiar with it. I got the Mystic armor, spear and helmet. That demon is sure annoying...
