How do you move the stinking key??

I can't put it on my hands, the belt, the head, or anywhere! I could drop it next to me, but I can't get it past the secret door! It's that test thing after the fool takes you somewhere in the beginning of the game, BTW.
I'm very new at this.

there is a white bar next to your body picture put it in that
