I cant get replicate to work on anything. What am I dooing wrong?

Anything that you wish to replicate must be in its original position. An alternative is to put it in a crate, smash the crate, then replicate. You cannot clone things in your inventory. Some items can never be replicated.

how do you smash the crate? every time i've tried the crate just opens.

Hit 'a' on the keyboard, then click on the crate to attack.
