Is Cythera worth $25? Comparing it to games like Exile and the soon coming Avernum from Spiderweb Software, I'd rather save my hard earned cash for something a little more sophisticated. Cythera had a superb plot, but I found the mediocre graphics and combat system a turnoff.

If you've got problems with the graphics, that's your problem, but the combat system. There is not meant to be much combat in the game as the puzzle type plot takes effect. I don't care about the combat system that much myself. If you're looking for a game with a good even mix between plot and combatÐwith other goodiesÐyou'd probably like Escape-Velocity or EV-Override, if you havn't already registered them.

actually, I kinda like the graphics. I think that they're spectacular for most shareware games. If you ask me, Exile's graphics seemed a little crappy...

I think it's well worth the money!

Maybe they could lower the price to twenty, but if I were Glenn, having spent years ( :0 ) on the Delver Code, I'd like it not to go below 20$ (US)

Sitting over here in Europe, $US25 seems like a pretty good deal to me. It's a little buggy but not so as it matters. Yeah, cheap, I come home from work and rather than veg out in front of lots of very poor TV, I play with the Delver game engine (nowhere near finished yet either, I think).

I heard that TV over there is kindof messed up, but it doesn't get much better over here. I abondoned most TV a long time ago when we got an iMac. If you want TV, get Quicktime player. Just a little FYI for TV.

Go for it.

Delver's intention was to not be the standard hack-and-slash game you can find at random. Its focus is the "look-before-you-leap" principle: think about it, and do it...if you can, of course. Of course, if that ain't your thing, there's still enough hacking-and-slashing to go around. Posted Image
