ok ive got the strange device...and i think i know what its for...but i cant seem to figure out how to use it Posted Image

There are three buttons along the top which control the black and white spots. If you find a pedestal with a pattern on it, you should probably fiddle around with the device until it matches the pattern. It can be a little tricky, but about 30 seconds is usually all it takes to get them to match.
