I've gone back to the temple,
unfortunately the porticullus seems to be down - i don't ever remember getting it up ...

HELP !!!!

If you lowered the portcullis, then used directed nexus to leave, there's no getting back in without starting a new game.

You can't see the lever, so it won't help.

Don't worry too much about starting a new game, though. If you know all the stuff, you can get through the game very quickly.

oh well,

at least on this occasion with version 1.03 my rogue might actually keep the lockpicking & detect trap skills (don't ask me why I like rogues I suppose I just wish I was one.)

You're not screwed; you can see the lever if you stand in the right spot. Try all of the rooms to the right of the lever room, not just the topmost one.
