I looked in Odeama.

I looked in Catamarca.

I looked in Odeama again.

I went through the tunnel to the little area of Cadima that is unaccessable from the plants.

You won't find a book by fishing, but you might find one by digging. Posted Image

I may be small but I have the strength of ten cats.

My BF's advice: "Take a deep breath. Step back. Count to ten. Then shut-up and LISTEN!

I don't have fishing but I guess that you could get fish from it.

I think whoever told you north had their map upside down. I believe they meant south, if I'm remembering correctly.

I stole a fishing pole, thinking I'd be able to find the guy who teaches fishing in Odemiaa, and I never found him. Where is he?

Another thing- Heres an answer to your questions (thanks to Slayer):
Along the east coast, north of Catamarca, there is some sand and loose dirt. Use the shovel to dig on the loose dirt.

The guy who teaches you fishing is in Odemia but he spends all of his waking hours outside of the town's walls. So you need to walk around the walls to the north (ie top of the screen) and head towards the river. There should be a guy over there who'd be more than happy to talk about fishing and hunting. He does have a house in town but it's pretty difficult to catch him awake in the house.

Well, even though you can learn fishing it appears as though it is a useless trait to learn (as is weaving AFAIK). Several people have ranted about wasting time trying to locate a section of "deep" water in which to fish and still nobody has come across such a stretch of water.
