"What? I'm not paying 200 oboloi for that little hunk of metal!" yelled Zephyr Sigma to Milcom.
"Hey man, all I'm saying is, I paid 150 for it in materials and labor," replied Milcom.
"How do you value labor? And how could you possibly have paid even half that much for iron from Attis?"
"The mine is shut down remember? The ghost may be gone but those miners still refuse to go down there."
The argument continued for some time until Milcom said, "150 oboloi. That's my final offer. Take it or leave it."
"Leave it then," Zephyr replied.
"All right fine, I can see you're disappointed. Tell ya what, since I hate to see someone go home disappointed, I'll offer you this," said Milcom as he pulled a small gold ring with a diamond in it out of a pouch around his waist.
"Will to Union... Milcom, I'm not getting married here!" yelled Zephyr, obviously getting fed up with the smith's haggling.
"It's not an engagement ring, it's an arch-mage's ring!"
"A what?"
"It was used by an arch-mage to allow him to reach something that would otherwise disappear."
"Really? And what precisely does it allow you to reach?" asked Zephyr inquisitively.
"Well, I don't know off-hand, but I've heard stories that it belonged to the ancient Arch-Mage Tavara."
"Tavara, huh? Well maybe it will make something reappear in his lair in Abydos. How much you want for it?" Zephyr asked.
"Eh... 20 oboloi, as it is one of a kind."
"Fine, but something tells me it ain't one of a kind."
The two businessmen exchange goods for currency and chatted a bit about everything from Dragons and Demons to how shoddy the wine seems to be getting lately.
"Say Milcom," Zephyr says as he examines the ring, "where did you get this, anyhow?"
"Some adventurer by the name of..." he thought for a minute, "Rogan, that was his name. He said he found it in a stronghold to the far north on the west side of the Titan's Spine. You know... Tavara was supposedly imprisoned there by some nasty little fish-people."
"...Undine? Weird, every legend I've heard about Tavara included the Undine. From him manipulating them into helping him destroy Abydos, to his involvement in the cult of the Scylla."
"Heh, maybe this'll make Tavara's hidden wine supply reappear!"
The two laughed and talked until about midnight when Zephyr said,
"I gotta hit the sack, I'm gonna head out toward Pnyx tomorrow at about noon."
"See ya soon then," said Milcom as Zephyr left the tavern.
More to come!

Nice. I like the humor and sarcasm at the end.
