Part eight: Kushluk

"What is it?" Talos asked and approached Rogan, who was holding the book. An old book with a good layer of dust on it. Rogan wiped the dust off the book and opened it, looking at the first page. "What does it read?" Ferazel asked and looked over Rogan's shoulder. "It is written in some foreign language," Rogan sighed, "I can’t read it." Talos grabbed the book and said: "Let me take a look at that." He looked at the letters for a moment and continued: "This is not foreign. It is ancient Cytheran! I can read it!" Rogan smiled and responded: "Well, what does it say?" Talos got a strange look on his face when he said: "It tells the story of three brothers which were under Tavara's command before he died." Suddenly, a scroll fell out of the book and landed on the floor. Jack picked it up, looked at it and read:

"Conrack. The outer temple is falling. Aeacus is dead. Take your brothers to my tomb and guard the journal with your lives. The inner Brotherhood must be preserved. I am about to undergo a change which I am most certain will change the tide of the war between the elements. When you are safe, open my journal on the fifth page and read the spell entitled 'Rel vas Xen in daemon Ex' and prepare to become a part of eternity...your brothers, Kushluk and Conrack, shall read the spells already given to them. Yes, you will protect my journal and the secrets within the caverns, the Undines have agreed to help you and your brothers. Stop the intruders at all costs. I will miss you.
-Tavara"

"What the devil is that supposed to mean?" Ferazel narrowed his eyes and looked at the scroll. "Kushluk!" Rogan said. "What?" responded Talos. "Kushluk!" Rogan said again. "When Mutaro listened into a conversation between two ruffians, they mentioned the name Kushluk. He must be the one who set up the trap by the cave entrance!" Rogan tried to say more, but he was interrupted by a voice which made everyone jump in fear and turn around. "Not exactly. My men did that. Unfortunately, they failed in killing you, so I had to get rid of them..." the voice came from a large man with a scar over his left eye. The voice was dark and threatening, as though it came from a demon. "Kushluk!" Rogan said for the fourth time. "Well...not exactly," Kushluk responded, "as you can see from the scroll my brother Conrack recieved from Tavara many years ago, I am not Kushluk anymore. I am beyond Kushluk! I am...an Undine!" Kushluk started to laugh as his skin got darker and, suddenly, the Kushluk was gone and in front of the four adventurers, was another Undine. "Let's kill this creature!" yelled Talos, "he is just another Undine!" Kushluk laughed again. "Wrong!" he yelled. "I am a more powerful being, a creature beyond the usual Undine, a more powerful creature than you encountered in the Undine stronghold! And now, you will die!" He drew a blade similar to the previous Undine's and charged at Rogan with it. At the same moment, he used a spell to throw Jack into the wall with sickening force. Rogan drew his sword and parried the first blows, but fell backwards and passed out. It was up to Talos and Ferazel to fight Kushluk...

Ferazel prepared a fireball and let Talos fight Kushluk in close combat. When Ferazel cast the fireball, Talos jumped away and the fireball hit Kushluk in the torso. Jack got up from the floor and sent a lightning bolt at Kushluk. Nothing seemed to work, but they had to try. Talos cast "awaken" at Rogan and Rogan was quickly on his feet again, ready to fight. The party gathered and ran across the room. "What shall we do?" Rogan asked, "he is way to powerful for us!" A bolt of lightning hit the wall and some stones fell down. "Duck!" yelled Talos and used a shield to protect his head. Kushluk closed in on them. "Follow me!" yelled Talos and ran into a tight side passage, the others followed him. "The lightning and the stones gave me an idea," he said. "What if we can make the ceiling collapse on top of him?" Rogan responded: "A good idea. We can distract him while you cast the lightning. He must not see it until it's too late...he can probably hold back the ceiling with a spell." The party ran out into the room again, past Kushluk. "Fight, cowards!" he yelled, "you are only making this harder on yourselves!" Rogan charged at Kushluk with his sword. Jack and Ferazel used mystic arrows to distract him. Rogan pulled back after five seconds, and when Kushluk was trying to hold back the mystic arrows, Talos unleashed the lightning bolt. The bolt hit the ceiling right over Kushluk`s head and the rocks fell down on him. The whole room shook and rumbling was the only sound heard, except for a scream from Kushluk. The four men quickly ran into the side passage and watched the stones bury Kushluk...

My computer crashed right after I uploaded it, so I guess I just forgot. Anyway, it's there now.
