I looked at the rest of the group. Eldargon seemed to be thinking, but of what?
I cast my spell and even though it was pitch black, it seemed like noon. Rogan drew his weapon and pointed at a shadow in the distance. "Is that a Demon?" he asked. I heard Slayer: "I think so." The demon turned his head and looked at me. Not past me, but right at me! Avatara asked, "Can demons see in the dark?"

The demon came closer. Kestrel drew his sword and said , "I don't think I'll wait to find out." As he leaped forward, blue sparks were trailing from the sword as it was brought down on the surprised demon. The demon choked, then fell to the ground. Kestrel made a remark about how he probably shouldn't have done that, and made his way forward.

We turned and twisted our way down. Always down. At the final turn, I felt thankful for my powerful spell. There was a solid wall across the cavern, about sixty paces long and about forty paces ahead of us, and was at least forty feet tall. On this wall there were two towers rising into the air some ten feet above the top of the wall. A main gate, about fourteen feet across, stood in the middle of the wall. The gate was made of heavy oak.

Kestrel turned to look at us and stepped back, causing a rock to fall off and hit the floor. Loudly. There was commotion within the wall, and the gate opened to reveal an army of about twenty demons and undead. The leader stepped out from the crowd. He wore a black cape. I could not see his face under his hood. A voice seemed to resound within the huge cavern, "GO BACK, FOOLISH MORTALS! YOU CANNOT TOUCH US HERE!" With that, the small army advanced slowly.

Avatara jumped to the front. Bright bolts of blue lightning shot from his fingertips, frying the front line into oblivion. A detached demon's head flew toward us and landed right in front of me with a sickening "splat." Everyone then released a magic attack that left only four demons left. It was then that I realized that Eldargon was no longer there.

"Help me out," Kestrel yelled as he ran forward to engage the leader now that Avatara had distracted it. He drew his sword. His first swing knocked his arm and he seemed almost to drop his sword. Then it was punching, swinging, blocking, slashing, stabbing, and kicking. Blue sparks were everywhere. Then the leader somehow stabbed Kestrel's thigh. Kestrel looked at us, then back at his opponent. The gates of the stronghold were swinging shut.

I looked to the left and saw a crystal floating in midair. I ran off, thinking it could be some kind of power source for the stronghold. I thrust my sword into it and backed away. The crystal exploded. Another crystal was behind it. I stabbed at this one too. Behind it was the wall of the cavern. I walked back to where Kestrel was fighting. A bit of rock cast a shadow near the fight and I passed under the rock. Before I was out of the shadow, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I looked down and saw...a sword.

Very nice, Fanatic. It's cool to see a continuation of one of the first chronicles posts.

You sure you're not one of those famous authors in disguise? Posted Image
