When they got back to Odemia, the guard opened the gate for them without hesitation. "I knew you would make it...again," he said.
Elder Philinus of house Nicander came running towards Ariadne as soon as they got into the village. "Lady Ariadne!" he said, fighting to hold the tears back, "you`re safe!" "Dejà vu," Rogan thought. "Come, have dinner with us!" Philinus continued. "Sorry, but we don`t have the time..." Philinus interrupted Jack: "Oh, please. I insist."
"Well, I suppose we can wait a little longer," Rogan said. Then he turned to his six men and said: "I do not want to eat all of Philinus` food...and I think some of you don`t want to either. You are free to do whatever you want. We meet back at the gate in one and a half hours." Lucas, however, came with Rogan. "I want to talk to Philinus about this book and about the man we are going to visit," he said. When Philinus closed the door behind him, Rogan's five men looked at each other. "Is he gone?" Mutaro asked. "Think so," Angus answered. "To the tavern!" Korax yelled. The five men smiled and went straight for the tavern.
They ate a good meal, had a good conversation, ate some more, but didn`t find out much about their mission. Only that the mystery man's name was Talos. Afterwards Lucas went for the tavern too, and Ferazel, Jack, and Rogan started looking for Talos' house. After some asking around, they eventually found it. "Seems empty," Jack said as he looked through a window. "That would be extremly bad luck," Ferazel said, "I know for a fact that he very seldom leaves his house."
Rogan knocked on the door. No one answered. Ferazel discovered that the door was unlocked, and they walked into Talos' house. They found it seemingly empty. Though things were in good order, no one seemed to be inside. However, there was a sound coming from the kitchen. As Rogan looked, he saw food moving itself, and a shadow with no source. Ferazel, catching on, said: "Hello, Talos. What are you doing?"
Looking at the shadow, they began to see a person coming into focus. "Hello", Talos said, "What can I do for my friend Ferazel and his companions today?"
"We are here because we think you have a clue on where Tavara's book is. We know it isn't at Abydos, that has already been checked. That was Tavara's workroom, and his house, the one after he destroyed Abydos, is where is more recent works are," Ferazel said.
"Yes, I think I know that," Talos said, "maybe I should show you where it is?"
"That would be very nice," Rogan said, "I thought we would have a hard time persuading you."
"Oh, no," Talos answered, "I might live alone but I am not antisocial or anything...shall we depart Odemia and start on our quest?"
They left Talos` house and started walking towards the tavern.
Everyone of Rogan's men were gathered in the tavern. Mutaro and Rongar were throwing the dice, Keno and Angus were drunk, Korax got cheated in a card game and Lucas was reading a book. Suddenly, the door opened. A man with a dagger in his chest walked in. "You are being followed," he said, "Tavara's book..." The man fell to the ground, dead. "What the..." Lucas said as he shut the book and walked towards the dead body. Lucas cast a resurrection spell, but it was too late. The man could not be saved.
"What the devil?" Mutaro said, his eyes got larger. Rongar looked out the window and said, "There's Rogan. Maybe he or some of the others know something." Lucas turned the dead body around. He then got a extremly scared look on his face and his lips shivered when he said: "Peisander?"
