The Ares Player List
#1
Posted 30 May 2003 - 10:18 PM
I recently added an Ares Player List to assist in finding Ares players to play with. If you want to be added you should post here or contact me some other way. The same applies if you want to be updated, removed or anything else. When adding, you can supply as much or as little information as you feel comfortable with. This is also helpful for those who are anti-GR (ie. people who avoid GR for its lack of whatever.)
You can see the list here:

I am of course 5-7 hours ahead of US Eastern Standard time. My hours of activity seem to coincide with dinner time in the US...
For example I am on GR now..., but no Americans, or Australians for that matter...
I would suggest a "yes" rating for my level of activity.

Who exactly is 'anti-GR'? All the 68k users are gone now..
Oh, is GR PPC-only? Darn.

btw, how do I "request" a game with Fyrephin, who appears to be the only other active player in Europe at the moment....
You do exactly what you just did and hopefully I check the boards.
Email me at fyrephin@goth.net to arrange a time

Perhaps you could email him.

Well, for the first time in two years, I was on GameRanger last night looking for someone to play Ares with. The only person there was Oni, and he couldn't play Ares since classic lags worse than someone trying to play an object-intensive level on a 68k with a dialup modem.
So yeah, you all missed out.
And if you didn't know, Taylor and Onii7 are the same person. And I think it was my base station creating problems (not classic as it had worked fine before). We can try again soon if you want.

I was just about to ask about that [edit](re: feasability)[/edit]. Ah well.
Um, how do I do the quote thing properly? It's not in the webboard faq and the search function is down.

Perhaps: "Classic lags worse then an object-intensive level on a 68k with a dialup modem."
I'd just add his name after it. There isn't really a proper way to do it.

On a random note, somehow I found my ares magleague password was cached on my OS9 browser, so I *think* I can play magleague games again.
Anybody want easy points?

I was asking what multiplayer Ares is like with a 68k Mac and a dial-up modem.

Er, i admit that I have never used it with a 68k machine, just a G3 and G4. But I have played it once with a 603 ppc against a 603e ppc on an ethernet LAN and it worked fine.
The levels without asteroids in them should be ok on a 68k machine
