Holy Flurking Shmit! That's awesome! Don't go saying "multiplayer EV" too loudly, you'll have a swarm of noobs who have no idea what Ares is demanding features that the Ares engine can't handle. Very cool, I look forward to when it's finished.
Heh, the project will continue to go by "Ares: Override" until released. Then once it's a finished product, I'll start saying "multiplayer Override" a little more loudly.

Not that that makes the pictures any less über, of course.

Hmmmm. This is just my personal opinion, but I think that either the Zidara's too big, or the Azdgari Warship's too small. The Zidara looks "bigger", and it is meant to be a "pocket warship".
Not that that makes the pictures any less über, of course.
Read the Override specs - the Zidara is only 10 meters shorter than the Azdgari Warship. The sprite size for the Azdgari Warship is bigger than the Zidara, so we're right on the money. I personally think the Zidara would look better in smaller form, but if you go by the numbers it's perfect.

A hint, then. Don't go by the numbers.
I've really been doing a good mix of both, actually...

Go with a mix. Increased scale is good, but the overriding aim is for it to look good. And play good, obviously.
Sounds good to me and the majority of onlookers (I'm sure). Override - in my opinion - tended to be the weakest of all the EV games, so touching up appearance and performance couldn't harm anything.

I think magma ships in a similar plug like this would also work, but not as well.
I'll eagerly await the release, nevertheless

Be optimistic. Being the weakest game in the greatest game series of all time isn't so bad.

Assuming you're referring to my old Ares: Override, than the answer is yes, it's dead. That being said, I'm now working* with ragashingo and Captain Skyblade on this project. Some of the ideas (and the name! ) from my old project are coming along for the ride too - I'll also be writing a single player campaign for it.
*To be fair to CS and raga, I haven't actually done anything yet.

Wow, this project looks really cool, even inspired me to dust off my old copy of Ares and actually play it again...
Aye, that's the idea. Multiplayer Ares could use a lift over at GameRanger... there aren't any good multiplayer plugins out there to keep people playing it.

1. Looks excellent.
2. Be sure to put freight-couriers in.
3. On page 1, somebody said something about "things the ares engine couldn't handle." I'm really beginning to doubt the existance of these.
4. EVN is definitely the worst EV game by a fair margin.

Well, I have four things to say:
1. Looks excellent.
2. Be sure to put freight-couriers in.
3. On page 1, somebody said something about "things the ares engine couldn't handle." I'm really beginning to doubt the existance of these.
4. EVN is definitely the worst EV game by a fair margin.
Well, then I have 4 replys.
1. Thanks
2. There are, they are the Rendegade's Transports
3. Well I think he meant things like Trade or Jumping between many systems. Ares can't do those things, but it can do just about everything else
4. Yeah, I think there was just too much hype. Its still a good game and I still enjoy playing it.
