Nathan Lamont does not presently have plans for a sequel to Ares, though he has spoken on several occasions of setting another game in the Ares Universe. However, a thought occurs-

There's not going to be a sequel. This is a guess, however it is a right one.

nathan lamont has said he wants to do another ares-universe game in a few years, but that he's not going to make an ares-style sequel.

I, personally, would like a sequel to Ares, though I doubt that will happen. An Ares Expansion Pack? Who knows? I'm no expert on the subject, of course, but...

Yeah, somehow I really doubt it's going to happen.
It's nice to dream though.

Well, if there were a sequel, how would you like it to turn out? What exactly would the story be like?

I very much doubt that there will be an Ares expansion pack (an addon to Ares as we know it) because Ares is not carbonized. I believe that all new Ambrosia products (excluding ports to windows of course) will be Mac OS X compatible. So....if Ambrosia comes out with anything new Ares-related (which seems very doubtful at this point) it will probably be a new game, and not just an addon to the existing game. As a side question, does anyone know how well Ares sold? That would have a large amount of say in whether another project in the Ares universe was taken on by Ambrosia.

Ambrosia couldn't "take on" another Ares game not written by Mr. Lamont anyway. Ambrosia doesn't hold the copyrights on Ares, merely the distribution rights for the game( I believe ) And since Mr. Lamont has stated that he is:

a. not planning on an Ares sequel

and

b. any other game in the ares universe(not like ares but with Ishimans etc) is years and years away and is not under development.

the prospects for Ares2 are rather slim indeed.

Of course, there's always the possibly of another ares-style RTS/Action hybrid from, er, an independent developer. Posted Image
