Ambrosia Software Web Board: I need help - Ambrosia Software Web Board

I'm new to te game Ares and I can't win the frist mission.

Have you played the tutorials? If not, make sure you do.

To beat the first mission:
use your FTL drive(tab) to get in front of all the enemy ships.
then fly backwards along their course, ignoring the gaitori ships and just attacking the transports while dodging their shots. Use FTL to skip from transport to transport and you've won!

Heck, as Patrick stated, make sure you've passed the tutorials! It's makes the game much easier, and shows you what you're missing. I thought Ares was quite boring until I passed those tutorials..

What Patrick said is pretty much it, but to elaborate here's what you do: zoom out to show all objects and hyperspace towards that. Fly towards the transport shooting and then turn around and perform another flyby. This is a good way to dodge enemy fire and cause max damage. Hyperspace from transport to transport zooming out to find their location until you've destroyed them all. It's not hard at all. You dont even need the tutorials to beat this one, though they help.
