I was playing Ares the other day when to my alarm I accidently hit a random key by mistake and my vessel and my whole fleet for that matter were sent flying around the system at super speed. In a fit of panic I began hitting random keys to fix this problem. After I had hit what I believed to be the right key I set about the task of looking up what I had hit. The answer was the F6 key.
I found that by hitting this key you're slow little transport can reach the other side of the system in a second, and by having the key engaged for a few seconds more brings your shields and weapons up to half capacity. By this I mean If you had a ship with 5000 shield and you were down to 5 of that shield and you hit the F6 Key and hold it down for four seconds, you can gain back half you're shield. The same goes for weapons as well. This process however does drain youre battery fairly quickly. Probably everyone else has noticed this before, maybe I should take up some hobby like stamps...

Huh, that's pretty strange. I admit I never noticed it, and I don't recall anyone else ever mentioning it either, but still.....how odd.

The F6 key is probably put in for just those resons, it speeds up the whole game (enimy too) so the anoying little thing like geting transports to planets is alot quicker and makes the game better...

I knew about this since i got the game and presumed that every one else knew about it too.

Same for me. I'm usually so engaged in battle that, when I kill off everything, I haven't yet built a transport. I have to wait for my transport to cross the void. F6 isn't a cheat; it's a way to speed up boring things. Every one of its advantages is balanced out by a disadvantage (or, more accurately, an advantage given to the enemy)

You had me confused. My "speed up time" key is TAB, and I use it A LOT

I think my configuration is quite different from the standard, mostly because I play on a laptop. One of the changes is in the ordinary function keys, but it's merely a change from "F6" to "6," and I used the former for a while too.

What is it, [Deleted] boy ZidAz? If you only had pressed F1 you would relieze that it is no cheat, it is just a standard part of the game. If you are looking for a easter egg you are going to have to look a big harder, [Deleted].

Yes, it's a handy feature, especially in some of the long base-building missions. I discovered it a while back myself, and it makes conquering Ares far faster.

Oh, and it's fun for letting them build up a huge fleet to wipe out...

I love the F6 key. It saved me a whole lot of time in Mission 14.

Come to think of it, I need to get through the game with no cheating..........

Well, what missions are hard for you?
I think the biggest troublemakers are 13 and 19. Of course, if you keep your Cmissiles flying and your Fullerenes directed, the Carrier can be taken out quickly. And the best way to beat 19 is to slip in transports _before_ you take on the Gateship with insane amounts of Gunships.

I agree, Mission 13 is the most challenging. It's the only one that I don't find easy after all this time of combat missions...!

As for F6, I've always used that to keep things moving along. Shades of caps lock=run in Marathon!! Posted Image Trouble is, you can suddenly wake up and find your ship destroyed from under you if you are not quick enough to release the F6 key!

Took me a while to figure out. But now i love the Fast motion option. I have set it to the F key so its easyer to use, and now the missions arn't so long and boring. Hehe

I find that mission 13# is rather easy and almost fun. I think that mission 15# is probably the hardest. All the other missions are rather easy given time.

Wow nobody has posted about this in awhile, but as long as someone did..

If both people press F1 at the same time in ares multiplay it speeds up the game. (at least it does with me - with other people it sometimes only speeds up the asteroids) The hardest part is getting the timing down and making sure the other person doesn't think your trying to cheat him by having him press the F1 button. lol

On the same note, I believe that if both players type a cheat-enabling code in a multiplayer game, they can use real cheats. Throw in the F6 key, and you have multiplayer on steroids...

Substance E?

I'm back - Self exile to the Nova Boards - they needed me Posted Image. You know.

I use F6 pretty frequently, whenever a transport is making it's way across space I just press it and, voila! 5 minutes of real-life gained. It's in the keypress menu.
