Just for fun back around Christmas I took a whole bunch of the Ares splash screen pics and put them together in 5 full screen, large pics. I used to use them on Eclipse on my computer, that's what I made them for. I was curious, and I think Laguna would be the one to know the answer on this, how I could get them somewhere people could download them. Help would be appreciated!

Have you considered Apple's iTools? Apple offers 20 megabytes of free webhosting to all Mac OS 9+ users with a personal iDisk, among other handy utilities. Sharing is made particularly easy- they have everything you need to know to share it readily accessible once you have it.

Incidentally, your iDisk also has a section for downloading popular mac software from the Apple servers direct to your hard drive, including, when it is released... need I bother saying the name? Posted Image

Yeah, I'd say itools is the best option since f2s.com stopped being free.

However, I have had considerable trouble with itools since I started using this imac with Mac OS 9.0.4, so if you're on 9.0.4, maybe you should look elsewhere, it's really quite infuriating. *throws a glance at tyrael*

And as a last resort, I've got loads of free webspace if you need something hosting.

Hey! I don't keep around other peoples' passwords for long... I set up the account for you since your connection sucked too much for Apple, and I gave you the password. I made no intent of keeping your passwords/logins straight for over 6 months. Posted Image

The only problem with iTools is most of the homepage templates are horrible (save perhaps the file-sharing one) and its a pain to set up a personal website using html files you code on your own. That, and no matter your connection speed, its usually quite slow on OS9 (any version).

Well, I was more curious as to if I could somehow put them on the add-ons page. I guess that they are in a sense screenshots, but not really. They're .pict files, the largest being maybe 200k. Could I upload it to the Ambrosia server and have somebody take a quick look? Maybe then you could help me get them to where they belong.

Does that make me a masochist? I'd sign up for iTools myself, but I can't seem to get to Step 3. Once the plugin is installed, it tells me to enter my information, but doesn't give me anywhere to put it.

But in any case, are these derived from the briefing pics? I only know of one splash screen.

Yes, that is what I meant to say - sorry. Maybe this isn't an original idea, but I was hoping someone would take a look. I can't do any uploading tonight,so maybe tomorrow afternoon - if it's ok.

Well I'm well and truly lost! (maybe I'm just simple)

If you want them on the add-ons page or for someone to have a look at them, then just submit them.

All right, sorry if I've confused anybody. Posted Image Not meaning to. I'll dropstuff 'em and submit them now.

Whilst I wait for my personal computer to boot so I can get at them, I will try to re-state the entire thing:

Question: "I have created a bunch of pics for eclipse and would like to submit them to the Ambrosia server so others can use them. I do not know where to send them because they are pics and not plug ins and because they are not just screenshots."

So currently I am uploading them to you and you can decide an appropriate location for them. Hope that clears things up.

It looks like the computer or the server is not being cooperative tonight. I have tried to upload them twice now, but to no avail. It could be that the Nova craze is messing me up or that AOL has created more problems since the last time I tried, but all I get is a freeze after about 10 minutes. I will log back on later on a higher level access account and try again. (You know, I find it kind of ridiculous that I'm 17 years old and my father won't give me full net access, does he think I'm going to go crazy or something? Ugh)

Ugh. I have tried to upload 3 times now and it freezes no matter what I do. Even in the master account I got a freeze. If it's o.k. with you Laguna, I will attach the files to an e-mail and send them off to you. I will have to use my father's or sister's account because, as I said, I don't have enough access. Ugh Posted Image.
