Anyone see the new Ghz Power Mac? I NEED that computer!! It must load even the largest Ares levels(…And It Feels So Good come to mind) immediatly! Wish me luck in getting it!!

That new iMac is cool too, but not as fast.

At the moment I'm still on my ancient Performa 6116CD…Mr. Ares plays choppily.

Call me a dreamer. Posted Image I don't care.

I know this isn't extremely Ares-related, but I hope it is related enough.

I know what you mean. I had a lot of drool to wipe up after I saw that dual Ghz beauty ad on the apple website.

However, I'll probably end up getting one of the lickably cool new iMacs before I get a tower. Oh Mac, I am not worthy!

I was going to purchase the top of the line Titanium Powerbook as my new computer, but looked at my needs and the different options I'd need to use and found the 600mHz iBook to fit my needs better than anything else. This computer you speak of, from the first time I heard about it, would obviously be too much computer for my uses.

It's definitely in my "if wishes were fishes" category. I'd like a dual Gigahertz Tower, I'd love an iMac, but I'm not going to get one any time soon, so I'll deal with trustworthy DV SE (Original) iMac for as long as needed.

I'm quite happy with my Bondi Blue iMac (original) but a little faster modem would be appreciated.

Did you get the one with the big screen? I'd like an iBook or PowerBook too, but their expandability is a joke compared to a Power Mac G4. I wouldn't have a lot of use for a laptop either. If I was going to get a laptop, i would wait for a G4 iBook, probably.

By the way, does anyone get Macworld magazine?

El Spamo, I can relate.

Being a musician on the go, I need a small computer with moderate power and immense durability. The 12 inch iBook 600 fit this perfectly. I've been knocking it around for a while now and nothing's wrong with it. Throw it in the backpack, drop it off the keyboards, crash it into the mixer, it just keeps going. The PBG4 just wouldn't do that and it's too bulky to begin with. As for expandability, it fits my needs perfectly and runs all the programs I need. By the time I need to upgrade I'll have enough money to buy a new computer.

Yes, I get MacWorld, and I think it's a joke.

I'll be getting a single processor G4, 998MHz (I think) in a couple of weeks time, so I'll be able to test drive my Ares Levels on the latest kit, Heh!

I like the new iMac too, very sexy, a bit like GreenyBlue®©™ really...!

I checked it out at the store the other day, the iMac not the GreenyBlue, and while I think it's a great physical advance, I still can't get over the aesthetics of the thing. Functional, interesting, and ugly, though I like ugly...

For me, getting a G4-based computer would be the first step in conversion to OS X. OS X's improved interface isn't really worth much until the programs I want to use are available in Cocoa or Carbon. Of course, if I were to get automatic AltiVec support from a G4 processor, then I'd be more inclined towards using it, since I might end up programming in Cocoa myself.
