I've looked at the model Nathan gave me and it looks like an attempt to put lepton cannons onto a fighter. Lepton cannons on the gunship are huge and similarily shaped.

Posted Image

So I conclude that it's a ship with the maneuverability of a fighter with some light lepton cannons which do, oh, 50 damage? It has some armor plating apparently but not excessively.

I don't think that all of the parts on all ships match up exactly. If they did, the engineering pod would have pk beams and the cargo ship would have lepton beams. And I think those things on the sides of the escort are probably engines or some weapon we haven't seen before. Also, I think it's probably more of a cruiser than a fighter, just like the Obish escort.

I've always dreamed of a fighter with lepton beams, the most powerful Ishiman laser availible. I think its a pretty nice idea, a small and maneuverable fighter with heavy firepower. Hey, why don't they put THESE on Ishiman Carriers?

Anyway, nice PICT slug! Maybe you should make some battle scene between Cantharan fighters and Ishiman Escorts. That would be cool. What do you think?

that would be about right slug. But the lepatons would do 80 damage. You dont ussually decrease damage on wepons. If you wanted to decrease the damage it could do, you would decrease the firing rate. Although if you compare it with the obish version (obish adv is 1. um.. something) the lepaton ant normal firing rate would be just a slight bit more power full then the green pulse thingy (forgot the name).

No, I'd thought of a light lepton beam (PK beam firing rate, same damage as lepton) and a Core pulse gun. Maybe a cloak. I've always thought of it as a light destroyer. (of course, I've always thought of the Obish escort to being a light destroyer)

I fiddled around with Hera, and changed the UNS ROGUE to the Ish. Escort sprite, armed with an L pulse, a KL beam and a rapid Magneto. Result: Best short range ship. :-)

I don't exactly see what you mean. The ProtoPulse Cannon that I listed is put on stations, and thus it is variant number 2. The Twin Pulse Cannon is variant number 1. The standard version is the Protopulse 2 Gun (as far as I know), and since its the standard version, it isn't listed as a variant, so the other two variants are #1 and #2.

I put the Ishiman Escort in a scenario I was making a while back. It had two Lepton cannons, a cloak, really hot engines, and light armoring. Despite the fact that a couple hits from missiles would kill it easily, it made a surprizingly durable (and deadly) interceptor.

Yeah, just image half a dozen or so Ishiman Interceptors, Lepton Beams blazing, charging your little and lonely cruiser. Scary, huh?

I think those probably aren't lepton beams cannons. They don't look exactly like them, and I'm sure the Ishiman probably have several other weapons that aren't in the game. Besides, if we thought that all ships with parts on them that looked like lepton beam cannons actually had lepton beams, we'd have to assume that the Ishiman cargo ship was armed with lepton beams.

You're assuming a bit too much. Who says all Lepton beams look EXACTLY alike? There may be several different variants of the original design.

Nah, I think you're assuming a bit too much. Even if they didn't look exactly the same, I'd still expect them to look similar. The only similarities I see with the cannons on the escort would point to them being fighter bay exits, which they can't be. Name some stuff that is similar between those and lepton beam cannons.

Actually, of all the Lepton Cannons that I've seen, the one on the Ishiman Escort are the most different. In fact, the Lepton Cannons on the Gunship look more like the engines on the Cargo Ship than the Lepton Cannons on the Escort.

Even if they are lepton beams, how would they shoot? The front part of the ship
(the half cirlce) goes right in front of it.

I've looked closely, and I don't see anything similar. Couldja just name a few things?

Exactly. I think that the "lepton cannons" are really the engines characteristic of medium Ishiman ships (Gunship/HVD). The openings in the front are ramscoops (why manuvering doesn't use fuel). The weapons are probably similar to that of the HVC, but maybe with rapid protopulse cannons instead of fusion pulse.

Actually, you are only seeing this vessel at one specific angle. For all we know, they could be lepton cannons, and the beams wouldn't hit that front thing if the lepton beams were at a different height than that of the front thing.

The engine theory seems most likely to me. If you look, there's a rod on top of them which could well be the Lepton Cannon.

I would prefer to think of them as engines, because then I wouldn't have to sit here pondering why laser beams have square shooting thingies
