I'm doing an Ares Ship and Species Poll. Anyone may reply to this article saying their favortite species, or favorite ship, or even both (it's up to you). I will eventually publish my results on either this web message, or a new one.

The Salrilians, definitely, and of course the Salrilian Carrier; the best ship in the game.

God, how I hate that Sal carrier in level 13. Acctualy I agree with you Macintosh Man, Sals are awsome. The Ademedons are just to strong if you ask me. I personally like the Ish. and Obish.

So which aliens race and/or ship would you like me to put down? The Sals?

For species my choice is Salrilian. Their ships function superbly in fleet combination and the AI plays them with deadly efficiencey.

As far as ships go, it's a tie. Neither of them are Salrilian though. The first is the ever speedy, ever confusing Aud cruiser. You can take out just about anything with that agility. The second is the Human HVD which has the best maneuverability of all human ships and quite possibley all HVD's, and it has some serious firepower.

I can't understand though, why everyone always picks a carrier. The Sal carrier to be exact. As a fleet ship they're the best you can find for a heavy assult, but as far as piloting goes, it steers like a shopping cart, and accelerates like a fat guy on a pair of rollerbladers with nothing but the power of a light breeze behind him. Perhaps it's the brute force. I preffer finesse.

HUMANS ROCK!!!! Especially the human gunship! hehehe! I like to run around a target, and shoot my autotarget weapon, while avoiding the enemy's shots. Using that method properly, you can take out many enemies. And Humans have good shielding.
I just thought that the Humans should have a good representation here...

Favorite species is definitely the Cantharan. My favorite ship. Hmm. I'd say it's a tie between the Obish Escort, the Cantharan carrier, and the Human carrier.

Actually, while the Audemedons are superier with their 2.75 advantage, the Elejeetians rule all with their 3.00 advantage.

To be honest, I love that Grolk light cruiser. It has a weapon that does 200 damage (as much as a fullerene pulse), has a decent rate of fire, has range comparable to that of a missile, and comes in large amounts (of ammo). Also it's shields are capable of absorbing quite a bit of damge. The only problem I have with it, however, is it's lack of Super-light boosters leaves it dragging it's tail in space.

Favorite species is definitely the Cantharan. My favorite ship. Hmm. I'd say it's a tie between the Obish Escort, a wonderful Patrol and Fast Attack Craft, the Cantharan carrier, and the Human carrier. Both carriers are death at close range. The Cluster Cell Array is my favorite weapon.

The Human carrier? It really isn't much more than a bogged down gunship that takes a lot more resources and carries a compliment of underpowered fighters.

Oh wait… we've gone through this before haven't we? Oh well. I only say that because I have had little luck with them, and have been able to take them out easily.

Sargatanus, the Sal carrier is not slow, nor does it accelerate slowly. If you look at the specs you can see that it has about the preformance of an Ishiman or Cantharan gunship.

Yeah, well I'm not a fan of Ishiman or Cantharan gunship performance either. I just have this thing against piloting carriers.

As I've said many times, humans are my favourite race. I've always liked the underdogs, and humans are underdogs with attitude (those gunships are lethal!). Favourite ship? The human gunship. Manueverable, potent when attacked from on front and capable of fighting effectively while on the run from fire.

I must admit, Sals are a superior race. Well, just compare those advantages. And second to humans, I do like Sals. But I agree with Sargantanus. Carriers are support vessels, not something for a hotshot fighter ace to fly. Though if I am forced into a Carrier, a Sal one is manueverable enough for me to actually enjoy it.

Captain Carnotaur, sorry I didn't reply, I haven't been to this bord much lately. I like the Obish and Ish. the best. My favorite ship is the Eleetjetian (I know I probobly spelled it wrong so shut up) cruiser, they're fast and well armed.

ilove the Salrilian gunship because it's main weapon does 200 damage, has range comparable to a missile, and restocks almost as quickly as you can fire it. If that wasn't enough, it is equipped with a Low Resonance Photo Kinetic Laser and has a cloaking device along with it.

favorite ship: Salrilian carrier. Huge and elegant (instead of huge and ugly like the Cantharan carrier). Powerful (as opposed to the helpless Gaitori carrier)

favorite species: the race that builds my favorite ship

Cotton Moose, the Sal gunship's weapon has a damage of only 100, and the and a range of 520. Not quite the range or damage of a missle, but an excellent weapon nonetheless. Also, it takes VERY little energy to restock it.

The Cantharan carrier isn't huge. I think it's the smallest carrier there is. And it is very beutifully designed, too, like all Cantharan ships. Plenty of maneuverability.

I apologize if my remark offended anyone. (Now we all know the real reason behind the Cantharan invasion of Earth: A Human insulted the design of the Cantharan carrier.)

You're correct in that the Cantharan carrier is the smallest carrier (Do I need new glasses again?) although I was thinking about carriers in general vs. gunboats. Since you are comparing carriers to carriers, the Cantharan carrier is the most maneuverable of them all.

As for your statement about the beauty of Cantharan ships in general, all I can say is that the Greeks have a saying: Personal tastes are not subject to debate. I guess we'll just have to disagree on this one.
