Ask and you shall receive; there are now 4 Ares web boards:

Ares Briefing Room -- post questions about Ares here (tactics, technical questions, etc.)

Ares Officer's Lounge -- this is where the dignified officers kick back with a cool drink and chat with their fellow pilots and wingmen about Ares, life, and love

Ares Trash Talk -- This is an unmoderated board; all seriously off-topic posts will be moved here, and if you want to talk trash about someone, here's the place to do it. Try not to let it get too out of hand...

Ares Engineering Dept. -- This is for people who are working on add-ons to Ares, such as new missions, plugins, etc. This will become especially important after Hera is released (Hera is a GUI editor for creating Ares missions/plugins).

Enjoy the boards -- oh, and I'd like recommendations of who from the Ares community we should promote to Overlord status to help moderate these boards. It should be someone who's around fairly often, and is level-headed. Post here if you have any recommendations.

We also have some other cool new stuff on tap for you folks... I think you'll really like some of the changes we'll be rolling out over the next few months. I'll keep y'all updated...

I would respectfully suggest Vegeta and Aithon as board administrators.

Flattery isn't my forte, so I won't spend time lauding either of their praises. Posted Image

I agree with Pax's nominations, and also think Pax should be nominated.

I personally would also like to help moderate the boards.

I think Pax and Fleet Admiral Darkk would be good moderators. I also think Boba Fett would be a good moderator because he has no life and checks the web board thirty times per day. Posted Image

hehe -- well, we'll need admins for a few things on the new boards, so it's great to get a few good nominations. I trust no one who was nominated would object to being signed on?

I'm more inclined to lean towards nominating axis members, mainly because they (sometimes) maintain another ares website. Pax and Veg would make excellent nominees for moderators. Ideally you don't want someone who's easily angered.

So, when will andrew choose our Overloards? It seems that everyone voted for Vegeta (Including myself!). I hope, and think that Vegeta will be an Overloard; He would be the best choice if we could only have one of them. Fleet Admiral Darkk would be very good, too! I also think that I would be an excellent choice, since I'm not easily angered by any means. And even when I seldom to get mad, it's light, and over quickly. Pax would also be a great choice! Can I get any backing up here? Posted Image

I second Boba Fetts nomination for himself, he really rules and is the coolest guy in the world and is the sexiest guy in the world and all the girls like him and his posts are funny and he always posts at least 3-4 messages per day. I also think having an axis member for an overlord would be a good idea (but when will you guys update the page?).

I'd love to be nominated, but I have BPD and would ban too many people for minor offences. Posted Image

I wouldn't ban people for minor offences! In fact, I would barly do any banning at all, unless it is absoulutly nescerry! (And beileve me, I know what is) I think I would make a great Overloard! Back me up, people!

It's true, I get mad when there's someone particularly dense. You'll notice, however, that when a dozen gentle or semi-gentle reminders didn't seem to stop Rebel, the really torching flames made him realize how annoying his posts on already-discussed topics were. He has since changed his name and now really adds something to the board.

Rebel is not on the board. I know that. He hates us all, he hates Ares, and his life is R6. He told me on GR. He isn't on this board with a changed name. Who do you thnik he is?

Whoops... I thought he had changed his name to Admiral Sargatanus. Well, that's the point of changing your identity, after all...

It might not be as good as reformation, but still, Rebel *is* off the board... and I frankly think everyone can be happy with that.

Could you give us more of an idea what Overlords can do (and what is required of them to keep the status) compared to a normal member and why they are weaker than Centeral Scrutinizers? Posted Image

BTW: Is Hector a moderator, just under a different name?

A LOT? Well, okay, I did post about three redundant posts in one thread, but that's MOSTLY it... And I made up for it by posting something not only relevant but (hopefully) usefull today so Posted Image
I agree that Vegetta and Pax should have Overlord status. I haven't been around here long enough to really be a judge of anyone's character but Vegetta hosts a weekly tourney, and Pax has a lot of stuff on the Ares Axis and, well, he does the updates for it apparently.

Yes, I and many others are very happy about that. I know who our friend Sargatanus really is, and it an't Rebel. Let's just say he's one of our old friends from long ago...

Hmm. This policy of multiple "Overlords" sounds interesting. However, I have to say, adminship on this board seems more like a status appointment than anything else. The board has had perhaps one conflict fractious enough to merit "moderation" in its history, and, if that pattern continues, I think Admiral Grammaticus will be more than capable of handling any problems that may crop up.
However, I have been away from the board for a time, and perhaps things have changed in my absence. The above is nothing but my two cents, and, naturally, Andrew has a better hold on the situation than I do. Anyway, multiple, rotating admins will certainly solve the problem of "moderator fatigue" that Andrew and I have discussed. As to the question of who, exactly, should posess these "Overlord-doms," I think that all members of the Axis staff should at least be considered, and, with the relative peacefulness of this board firmly in mind, any regular poster with their head firmly on their shoulders should also be included.
