Does anybody know what colors are acceptable for sprite importing? I just found out the hard way that green isn't one of them. I know black, blue, and red. Are there any others?

If I recall correctly, Hera uses the color of the absolute upper-left pixel of the image for the mask, so any color is acceptable, as long as it's in Ares' color table. (a .clut file of the table is located in the "Hera Supplemental Files" folder)
Of course, I'm just assuming you're talking about masks, as your post didn't specifically say.

Ares imports any color in the Ares color table. Basicly 256 colors.
If you have photoshop, you can go-change to idex color, import, ares color table,ok,ok. And that will convert your image to the ares color table.

Can't say about white or black, (though I seem to remember black working fine, so long as it's not in the sprite itself) but pure red works fine.

Black works fine, just as long (as MadFax7 said) as you don't have any black shadowed areas on your ship.
