1) Does anyone know how to replicate the jamming effect of the stock Ares asteriods?

2) Anyone know how the ares demos were recorded? Seems a bit farfetched to say they were just hardcoded in considering how well the pilot does.

3) Why are the Elejeetians an enemy of Cantharis?

1) The hide effect flag under the attr menu does it but I think it only works on certain types of objects like asteroids and planets.

2) Don't know

3) Disruption of trade routes... Causing general chaos through the galaxy... stuff like that

I thought of a great sig yesterday and now can't remember what it was... Oh and I'm apparently not very well liked by Joveia for reasons unknown to me... or him...

Pat, does your quote mean that you oppose the war on terror?

1) No, but this is because you said that stock ares asteroids don't work. You might be able to have a ship which constantly created an invisible asteroid type object which operated the field. This would also mean that it would be more visible in hyper than lieing in wait.

3) Cantharans rock the boat.

1) If the flag doesn't work, I have no idea.

2) The 'nlrp' resource in the Ares program. I don't know precisely how it's encoded, but I suspect that all of the information in there refers to a keypress or pause.

3) I thought that they weren't enemies (not friendly, but not enemies) before the Liner incident.

Re:
1) Thanks, never noticed the flag before.
3) Yah, but in level 13 prologue it says something along the lines of "...the mysterious Elejeetian Empire, an enemy of Cantharis..."

No, I just pick interesting quotes for my sig as I run across them.

2) I think that it's AI vs AI, not recorded. If you ever watched the demo for Space Race: The Musical, both sides loose because the AI cannot beat itself.

That was a REALLY odd demo. Nathan lamont deliberately engineered that... I've run it before and the Ishies kick a$$.

I could have sworn the gaitori win Space Race in the demo. By the way, you can tell the demos are just a collection of keystrokes. Want proof? Open up any singleplayer scenario and run the demo. The ship just randomly moves around shooting at nothing.

I just realised...I hate huge signatures and I have one myself- DOH!

Another smidgeon of proof as to the true nature of the replays is the fact that the player actually plays like a human. Computer players simply don't use the kind of tactics that are used in the While The Iron is Hot demo. A computer player will build a transport and escort it, but the player there instead builds a decent group of 4 and heads straight over.

[edit]
Also, since M:Inv will involve some hacks of the Ares Application, I intend on decoding the nlrps for our use. As soon as M:Inv is finished, I'll post the specs here.

I think the proportion of benefit to work is somewhat difficult a fathom to equal.
