Not going to happen. First of all, Ambrosia doesn't make Windows games as a general rule, and second, you'd need to get the original author to convert it. Lamont has moved on to other things nowadays...

I can't add anything here... Good job Pallas on the summary. There is one bone to pick with I contention have; which is that ambrosia never makes games for PC. nova is coming out on PC (andrew having succumbed to the lure of a bottomless cash pit). Shame...

Ah, but that's Contraband, not Ambrosia.

Pallas has it pretty much correct. The main point is that Nathan Lamont has moved on to other things. And there's not much point signing a several-thousand-dollar porting contract for a five-year old game.

While I usually don't think much of the "buy a mac" comments engendered by wishes for ASW stuff to be ported to PC, you could just spend about a hundred bucks and get a Performa or something to run Ares Posted Image

Who cares if they make games for PC! ASW is a corporation not a charity- they exist to make a profit.

I care if they start deliberately releasing games on PC rather than mac, but since the chances of that are really remote I don't think I need to even burst a lightbulb thinking about it. Perhaps if andrew suffered a fatal heart attack and the other members of ASW had their heads chainsawed off, we might see a direct reversal in ambrosia policy...

Instead of adding to this overexhausted, very pointless debate like SOME people here and many people on the EV boards are doing, I'll actually help out this guy.

I had the same problem with Ares; I beta tested Ares on my Mac, but then it broke, so all I have is my PC (anyone willing to sell an old PowerMac for under $50? Anyone?).

Anyway, you can search on the EV boards for something called Basilisk II; it's a Mac (68k only, unfortunately) emulator, and an excellent one at that. One other obstacle will be the fact that it requires a ROM file. I'm using one from an older Mac I have, though there has been some controversy around that too. I'm choosing to ignore that part of it and hope that what I'm doing is illegal (and I don't see what's illegal about it).

So anyway, um, yeah, I can play Ares on it. I have yet to try net games, though they might actually work...

How about a 75Mhz Preforma 6205 CD? Its not the fastest computer in the world but it will get the job done...

I thought of a great sig yesterday and now can't remember what it was... Oh and I'm apparently not very well liked by Joveia for reasons unknown to me... or him...

Hera requires a PPC.

that IS a ppc. All performas with 4 numbers are PPC, 3 numbers= 68k. also the fastest 68k was either 33 or 40mhz so a 75mhz comp is a PPC Posted Image

I can see your knowledge of 68k doesn't extend too far pat, otherwise you would know that a megahertz on a 68k counts for alot more (like 4x as much) than a RISC processor megahertz. The latest 68k were actually quite a bit faster than the early PPC.

Well I could certainly argue with that statement(68k 3-4x faster) but instead I'd like to point out that Hera requires a PPC not because of it's speed but because it doesn't contain 68k coding. Therefore, no matter how much faster a 68k is than the earlier PPCs(also remember that the original PPCs were running 99% of the software and even a good chunk of the MacOS under emulation) it won't run Hera.

By the way, are you referring to the 68060 Joveia? Macs never had that, they maxed out on '040s.
