I have started a new project: Aftermath 2. It will be a semi-sequel to Ares: The Aftermath, taking place in the Ares universe three years after the capture of Gaitor and destruction of the Cantharan Gateship.

The galaxy, racked with wars a few years ago, is now almost totally at peace. The Cantharans, angered by the failure of the Salrilians to warn them of the dangers of attacking Earth, and beset by the Elejeetians from the rear, have now freed their conquered systems and retreated to their former boundaries.

After the toppling of the corrupt Loyalist regime, the Gaitori Confederation has become peaceful again, reverting to its roots and focusing on trade.

The UNS, despite its small territory consisting of only five star systems, has rapidly advanced their technology. New ship designs such as the Schooner, Assault Carrier and Freight/Crusier have kept the borders firm and the economy high.

However, in the Galactic Northwest, home to Salril and Axis, all is not well. Disturbing increases in Audemed's thought processes have lead Salrilian scientists to theorize that despite their best efforts, the conciousness of Audemed is starting to awake from its slumber. Even more worrisome, UNS patrols have registered faint traces on their long-range scanners that appear to show signs of Cantharan origin.

Into this galaxy you are cast as the pilot of the trading vessel ITV Reliant, a heavily modified UNS Schooner that was "borrowed" from a UNS military outpost over a year ago.

Well Patrick, let me offer you two bits of advice: don't go and make an aftermath 2. Make it contain both the aftermath and aftermath 2, because the aftermath is not very well known. Also, go to Strata's website and fish around for some 3-D tutorials... I think we know why.

I hope it's not going to be another veangence, because that bit about the schooner makes it look like one. BTW, shouldn't you be persevering with WOTF?

Actually, Aftermath 1.2 has 400+ downloads and is #3 on the highest ratings. I think that's pretty well-known. I'll put a hyperlink to Aftermath 1.2 in with the final anyways.

Actually, a lot of detail is omitted from the sprites. Some larger shots:

Yes, Aftermath 2 will be an RPG like Vengeance, although depending on the path taken, it could end up like the Rouge(regular fleet command but Reliant must stay alive) with the player as a UNS commander. Or, the player can choose to take on the baddies themselves.

Patrick let's be honest with each other. How long do you think you spent on that? 3 minutes (including starting up Strata)? Step one: sketch your design, make the main body of it (front, back, wings) render each side and use photoshop to make the textures good, (you should spend atleast half and hour attuning the textures) then make lots of frills. The Sol Federation cruiser in Ish Quest (and WOTF) has 208 objects in it's build, and 259,644 polygons (got from the statistics window) and the Union Battlecruiser in SETR has an almighty 3526 objects & 1,214,236 polygons. It looks like that has 11 objects.

BTW, I haven't received your WOTF beta 4. Sorry about any offense you might take to this post, such was not my intent.

…but was your action…

Don't worry, I agree. If you're not going to use a large number of objects, at least make sure you're using an awesome texture.
(Actually, if any of you have looked at the Nebulon models for M:Inv, it's the texture that makes them look good. There aren't more than 4 Metaballs in any of them, and other objects consist of 1 or 2 spheres)

Huh. Well, graphics don't make the plug, gameplay does. I really don't have the time to spend several hours making each ship. I spent almost all day today working on the UNS Freight/Crusier ,and I haven't even gotten any custom textures on it yet. I will try to take some more time on the graphics, but I'd much rather devote it to working on the actual gameplay.

BTW, I haven't received your WOTF beta 4.

That would be because I just sent it out this morning, instead of last night as I had planned. You should have it by now

Atleast I apologise after insulting people, Pallas.

I do believe graphics make up 1/2 of the gameplay... how popular would Ares be if it used a square for all it's ships?

I think it's divided by 1/4 is plot, 1/4 is graphics, and 1/2 is how fun it is to actually play it. There are plenty of games with excellent plots and graphics, but are no fun to play.
