Please, if you want to discuss handles, do so in another topioc.

Does anyone know why bulletin board threads are referred to as topics? it doesn't seem quite appropriate in this instance.

Because these are topics and are listed as such. These are forums which are composed of topics which are composed of posts/replies.

An example of what a thread would be can be found in perfect form on the old EV/O DiscBoards or Blazer's boards. There you can actually SEE a thread formed where as here you just see a topic.

Also, here it's clearly stated that these are topics. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen right now it says "Topic: Knobs" and above that is says "Forum: Ares Trash Talk"

This is a fairly pointless topic, yes. Or should I say entirely pointless?

Still, when you start with doorknobs, I'm afraid the conversation is bound to stagnate eventually.

But see, the topic doesn't have a topic, so how can it be one? One might argue that doorknobs are the topic, but how can doorknobs be a "topic" if we're talking about soap, tea, and gaudily-colored boxes with '50s cartoon housewives?

It was discussing knobs, not necessarily doorknobs. A knob can also be the tuner on a radio or the volume on your car stereo, or.... Posted Image

That's just starting the topic all over again.
