80% of mac users have old computers? Every new computer comes with X. Even mine did and it is 1 year old.

The official Apple figures are that 20% of users have switched to OS X(whether by buying new comps or upgrading old ones) last I heard.( I'm sure that those are generous too, Apple Marketing has been known to use fuzzy math )

As the buyer of a G4 Powermac and one of the new super iMacs in the recent past I can put my hand on my heart and say that I put OS 9 on each of them, with OS X relegated to a mothballed status on one of the HD partitions, to be used for experimental puropses....
They say it doesn't crash, it does! (Very occasionally I admit).
But I won't use it until a proper set of defragmentation and repair utilities is available for it.
I love the look of it though.
I hate the lack of user preference in installation, reminds me of Windoze! And I also like multipartitioned hard drives and the facility to make drag and drop back up copies of the operating system (can be done with X, but only with pain and suffering!).
So whilst I do have OS X, i don't use it! I'm in the 80%

Oh, so it is another bug hunt then...

Mac OSX is 7gazzilion% user friendly.
Nothing like the good old days of OS 6.1 (my first computer)
The game is fantastic. Its a very high res 3d combat game where half of your opponents are other players online. One giant ongoing game of capture the flag between 9 sectors, complete with ship upgrades, AI patrols, and chat. Real time. So fun, soooooo addictive.

I was the same way at one point - my iBook was ordered a few days after OS X became standard on new Apple computers. I thought OS X was nice, but most of my stuff is classic, so it doesn't do me much good.
However, the Apple Developer Tools are OS X only, so I was eventually forced to switch for that. And after using it, I'd have to say that I definitely like it more. There are some programs I miss, but the only big ones are ResEdit and SimpleText - ResEdit is generally outmoded on OS X, due to the concept of packages, and if I really cared enough, I could probably replace SimpleText myself.
And Vendetta is definitely a great game. I got a Heavy engine before signing off, so I'm going to be real fast when I go back.

When I was on, DanMan was playing Blue, although I didn't see which class he had. I'm a bluelight, myself. A bluelight with a Heavy Engine
If you ask me, Vendetta really reminds me of Exobattle. More ship variety, more strategy and different sectors, but it's still that station-with-asteroids-and-lots-of-players concept. That classic feel with the modern look and gameplay.

I have an account on both blue and gold. I started blue, due to the threat that started this topic , but then relised that yellow had cooler looking ships. Not much different, though, so I think I'll trash my yellow account and join the Blue forces (Consortium...? argh, mixing topics gives me a headache!)

I, too, have been rather obsessed with the game , and last I checked I worked my way up to rank #31. I'm home for the weekend, siting at my origional-edition iMac (so classic), so I'm "out of action" for now. Next week, though, don't be surprised when you find me in the top 10
