Rushing on Location is so lame. Anyone who's trying to capture the station has no chance at all.

I seem to recall it worked for me, even when I captured the station as well. Then again, that was back in the golden days, when the stream of newbies was neverending, and the true players were still honing their skills.

You realise that there are more original ways of expressing your creative desire for more topics, than simply typing 'I hate...' and then adding a short 2 sentence grievance.

Sadly, writing a multipage discourse on(good) Ares strategy and tactics is simply not possible.

Well, I've always rushed for the center base. It seemed to work for me. Of course, I haven't played in a long time either.

Hrm I just proved myself wrong by writing said multipage discourse and submitting it to the Chronicles.

Perhaps you should look over what others have written.

brook, av, you will never be able to find a topic which matches your point. I conclude thus that your comments derive from purely from a desire to insult me.

Now I see why you don't think rushing for the center base works... you're not doing it right. For an actual chance, try this:

Build two Assault Transports.

Immediately take the nearby outpost, and station all of your fleet there.

Pick a useful ship class (Carriers, unless you're Gaitori, in which case use Gunships) and continually build it with your outpost as the target. You might want to Activate Special to launch all of your fighters.

Build three Engineering Pods at the outpost, and send them together at a Flak Drone. Fly one yourself, just in case there's a threat.

Take your second Assault Transport in person, and target the center base. Dodge fire from the center base, and use the small corridor you opened up. Leave your fleet at the outpost.

When you are literally touching the center base, enable autopilot twice in rapid succession.
Even if the center base has full shields, you'll have dropped 12 EVATs on it, which means that the station is yours. Note that none of your fleet is ever at risk from flak drones, and although you're not there to help in a battle, they can't send their full fleet to attack yours if they want to prevent you from winning.

You still can't do that fast enough to defeat a hvd rush-which is the smartest choice after all and can be put together in a minute or so. While you're grabbing the outpost, he'll be getting a HVD and then he can just warp over and smack you.

I thought we were arguing whether patrick showed amazing lack of imagination in naming his topics and subjects... oh well, carry on both of you.

If the enemy attempts an HVD rush, then that means he isn't building anything at all for a period of time. (A good tip is to observe your opponent.) If that is the case, build lots of gunships and cruisers, and target your entire fleet to the enemy outpost. You will be ahead of the enemy by 5-10 ships.

Yeah but:
a. you just wasted units on capturing a neutral outpost
b. hvd can kill anything, remember that your three carriers will all be gone about 2 seconds into the battle and he'll be shredding your gunships as his carriers waste your cruisers...
