If everybody had a weapon, hijackers would have to be able to hold off a crapload of passengers if they wanted to be successful.

That would involve a lot of trust coming from both the government and the people, and that just isn't going to happen. While it is likely that a system like this would work out, there are just too many x-factors for any policy maker to go along with it, and let's face it: most American civilians are too cowardly and too stupid to see the benefits and make it work.

And on the morality of the terrorists' actions, I don't think anybody can really be truly evil and wrong, etc.. People just can't do things against their own moral values without feeling guilty. In this case, the terrorists thought that they were doing the right thing, sacraficing their lives for a noble cause and such. People that do this sort of thing are mentally sick or are having very very strong emotions about things, hate being the emotion in this case. And I think that hate has been spurred by the US fiddling around in the middle east in matters where it has no business and generally screwing things up for a lot of people over there.

It's funny to see the laws of nature coming out in 'civilized' society, isn't it?

A knife is as long range as a fist and a fist cant kill anyone without the owner trying hard. Fists are just as good a knives and much safer.

b.t.w. I wasnt speaking directly to you, Mag, I've seen some e-mails from americans who wanted to see people with guns.

Oh dear. Bush and co. have given us the bog standard American response to anything bad happening to the US or its interests: Bomb the middle east.

The 'war against terrorism' will be little better than what was done to the WTC. Innocent people will die in the 'surgical airstrikes' and Osama Bin Laden will escape scot free. Two wrongs dont make a right.

America is acting like a spoiled child; they tried to have Bin Laden extradited and when Afganistan failed to abandon its rights as a country and grovel at their feet America got mad. If America had kept up with the diplomatic effort they might have got somewhere and no one would have died.

Dude, if I blew up something in of Afghanistan, I'd get extridited there. The problem is the Taliban is Bin Laden's friend. It's like asking Hitler to extridite Goering. Extridition is a DUTY of a country.
