I like Soundgarden, just don't own any CDs from them :/. I also like Pearl Jam and Nirvana and pretty much the rest of that whole Seattle group.

I just got back from a concert by Rogue. They're pretty cool, and very nice guys. Not you're grunge metal bands that swear a lot for no particular reason... These guys definately have a shot at hitting it big, they just haven't had that hit #1 song yet. Go to http://www.roguerocks.com/ and check'm out.

Man, I haven't been on the ares boards for, uhm, awhile... pity they're so dead. Ah well. Anyway, topic... lately I've been listening to a lot of...
Portraits of Past (Mid 90's emotionally charged hardcore + lots of weird guitar noises)
The Vidablue (spazzy mathy emo, the singer sounds like a sook for the most part and then screams a bit, works well)
The Nation Blue (local Aussie band, kinda quick soft-loud music, with some good vocals and also some not-so-good vocals [sometimes they sound really ocker])
Shotmaker (Straight-up mid-90's emo, with some of the raddest and most creative bass lines you'll ever hear)
Usurp Synapse (just broke up a couple of months ago fast, short, screamy emo-influenced hardcore, with a goth tinge occasionally)
Slint (uhm, if you don't know these guys it's a sin. "Spiderland" is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. Steve Albini (the dude who produced for Nirvana and loads of other bands, as well as being a member of math-rock legends Shellac) said in his review of it "Spiderland is flawless". And he's right.)
Saetia (a bunch of jazz/classics/anime nerds take on hardcore. Lyrics that'll make you weep and music that'll make you flail around your room and crash into things.)
Still Life (one of the earliest emo bands, started in 1989, and still going to this day. Lyrics second only to Saetia, and music that is somehow terribly unconsolably sad and yet uplifting at the same time)
Owls (ex-members of American Football, Joan of Arc and Cap'n Jazz. Think weird time signatures, technical playing and pretty music)
Off Minor (ex-Saetia. Music that changes from all-out hardcore to sublime, pretty, quiet jazz in the blink of an eye.)
And then there's my own band, Maiseria. We're jamming tomorrow so I'll try and record something and put it on the net so you can tell me how much I suck.
Sheppo
Oh, btw, I think I have mp3s of some or most of these bands up at http://pete.damnsw.net/mp3 if you're interested.

Primus: Wierd, loads of very good bass (they do the Southpark theme ).
Washer, I'm learning bass now, it's hard going...

Yeah, I saw Primus at a festival last year, they played a good set, but the venue (open air in the middle of a paddock with 40000 people doing various things at the same time) wasn't the best to hear them. Recommend some songs to me?
