Finally, I am coming back. I got on a bit yesterday, but I just wanted everybody to know that I am back (Hopefully for good). I raised all my grades enough to once again become a free man, but I must be careful not to let them slip, and never let my dad know my password again (ugh). I had been using the same old password that I'd been using for years and never thought to change it (on my AOL account - which is my only way to access the net) and my father just waltzed right in and changed my password on me. Through some ingenious hacks I discovered what it was (well not too ingenious) and was not thriled. My password had been a numerical variation on the word "grounded", those numbers I will not say, in case my parents decide to do it again. However, if they had found out that I knew I figured that I would not see the light of day for some time, so I held off from coming back until my father changed the password back. Now my password is something compeletely different which no one could ever guess. So that's the story. The end. And thanks again for all the goodbyes.

Ironically enough, my opinion of you has risen since you left, so this time you deserve a "welcome back!" Posted Image

Hopefully we can get a bit more activity back on the boards.

Indeed. Your somewhat spy-like technique in sneaking around on your computer is admirable. It is a shame that you are forced to use AOL. Why anyone would do that to any computer is beyond me. Cruel and unusal punishment indeed.

Welcome back.

It could have been worse. If you had a computer with OS X, and your dad changed the password for your login account, and never told you the password to his account. So that way you could never even get into the computer.

True, but I could have had a sister log me into their account, then pull the old Fake-log-in-screen one on a parent, therefore securing my password. We used to have a security program like that - not too tough to get around (Boy am I bad). Just put in the bootup disk and modify whatever you want. If you are really sick and tired of the whole ordeal just trash some of the more vital files - of course you'll get busted for this, but whatever. You could always just relocate them for a little while, restart, do your business and then put them back again. Anyway, I don't want to ruin my personal integrity, so I am going to stop talking about this now. Ugh ( Posted Image)

Yes, because discussing circumvention of security measures is sooo illegal. Well, thanks to the DMCA, even discussing circumventino measures of copy protection is an illegal act. It's really weird, because we still ahve hte legal right to make copies of media for personal use. However, the means to exercise that right is illegal, thus making the right a silly one.

I'm writing a research paper on this... it's gonna hurt...

So, does that make my recovering my password illegal? Does it make my attempts to get around my home computer's security an illegal act? (Watch, I'm going to get hauled off now - figures)
