I've uploaded an early version of my Cantharan campaign plug-in here:
www.megalink.net/~joe1/w/files/cantharanorder.sit

I'm just wondering if y'all think that my first mission shows promise. Its not done, (I need things like prologues and a graphic for the weak gate ship that the Cantharans have slapped togethor, as well as getting the plot in line with the Ares universe) but it's a working scenario.

Good plot but the gameplay's, um...

Let's just say it took longer for me to read the mission briefing than to finish the mission.

I don't have time to try it right now, but I'll see what I can do when I get home from school.

Yeah, I know about the length. I'm just wondering what you think of the basic idea. I have some real spiffy ideas to increase the length of the thing ten-fold.

Um, about two minutes of reading the briefing to about 10 seconds of playing is bad. I have a couple suggestions, which you may or may not heed:

Put in more UNS ships, and make their fleet go straight to the planet, not follow the carrier. Then we'd meet their fleet first, and their carrier would come in behind them, making it much more challenging. The way it is now, the carrier drops out in front, and I clobber it with my HVD.

could anyone make a mission pack/plugin for the starlance episode? is anyone working on one already? i think that would be kinda cool...if only it could follow the plot correctly...

The whole Starlance thing was from a plug that Slug is currently working on. It won't be done for a long time, though.

I thought I changed that, but i'll look into it...

I've found that the thing in its current state is erratic with how easy it is. Sometimes its ludicrously easy, and sometimes all the terran ships fly right into your way and cut you off from the carrier. Anyway, I'll get to work on extending the play al lot more.

I have uplaoded an update which will be the last until the mission is completed. Basically I've altered the map screen slightly to make the scenario look slicker and made the entire human fleet be targeting the gate ship so that there is a real challenge.

I'm glad you brought it up. StarLance is a Total Conversion "plugin" for Ares (Plugin is in quotes because it is so huge, to save memory it will probably come in a package [Meaning new everything: New Ares Application, replaced data files, etc.])

StarLance will be lucky to enter beta by Summer, but I could turn out that Battle scenario in a few weeks.

Please do.

Also, how would it work. We had an AWFULLY large number of ships in that battle, and Ares doesn't support huge numbers, does it?

Finally, I think it would be cool to get specs from everyone on their ships and graphics for them if neccesary so that you had a really realistic battle.

At any rate, let's just see it!
