"I don't. I'm honestly not sure how it is I make it out of bed every morning."

I think this is one of the most intriguing responses from Pufer yet in this topic... I will be following up on this soon.

Soon, in this case, meaning about a month.

So Pufer.

Do you still feel this way?

How does someone like you, with so much intelligence and obvious potential, come to feel such a way?

Have you ever gone through a serious existential crisis? Do you see any purpose in your life? Explain, please.

I think I've pretty much always felt that way.

QUOTE (Luke @ Jul 30 2009, 12:42 AM)

I may be the only person in the world who actually lives in the moment, all the time. I guess I might look back once in a while and relive times when I misspoke or something, but I don't think of the future, and I don't think about myself.

I hate questions like, "What do you want to do with your life?" or "Where do you see yourself in five years?" I can come up with answers to those questions, but they're generally going to be made up on the spot, based on what I feel like saying in that particular moment. I've never thought of what I want to do with my life, and I don't think I can. When I ask myself that question, it's like my mind gives be a blank screen with "Insufficient Information" blinking back at me. I don't have a clue as to what I'll be doing half an hour from now, much less five years down the road. I don't know what I'll want to be doing half an hour from now or five years from now. Since my decision making is dependent entirely on what I'm inclined to do at any given moment, I can't tell you what I'll be doing five minutes from now because I don't think like that.

Even worse are questions like, "Tell me about yourself." People don't actually want to hear about me because it confuses them. Like some people build up their resumes with various accolades and other stuff, I have to make a conscious effort at building a life that I can talk about. Folks don't like the answer to "what did you do today?" to be, "It doesn't matter, I wasn't paying attention." People think that other people shouldn't be able to exist for an entire day without paying attention to anything that they did. As such, I'll memorize a story about something I did or learned about today, and tell it should someone want to ask me some ridiculous question like that.

I don't know how I get out of bed every morning because I literally don't know how I do it. I don't know what my motivation could be because I have no discernible motivation to do anything, ever. It might just be a rule that I follow - when you wake up in the morning, you should get out of bed. I don't know why I follow any of my own rules beyond the fact that they sound good at the times that I follow them.

QUOTE (Luke @ Jul 30 2009, 12:42 AM)

Not really. It's been more of a gradual coming to terms with how I work (and, more poignantly, how I don't seem to work like anyone else does). I've never bought into anything to the extent that I've fallen into crisis mode in giving it up.

QUOTE (Luke @ Jul 30 2009, 12:42 AM)

Not really. I don't really see how I need to have a purpose in life, and don't know how I could bind myself to it even if I wanted one.

Pufer is a transient being. If you were to shave his beard, he would collapse into one dimensional plane.

With the side effect of destroying the universe.

I don't think I really want to be any superhero. They generally seem to be surrounded in soap opera-like circumstances and are generally ######ed with a lot.

That said, the healing abilities of Claire Bennet (being faster and more complete than those possessed by Wolverine) would be neat, as would the effective omnipotence of Dr. Manhattan.

Pufer, what do you think of the forums currently being offline?
At last he came to a door, with these words in glowing emeralds: THE END OF THE WORLD. He did not hesitate. He opened the door and stepped through.
