Oh man, at first I thought this just said "How old are you" and I was going to say I expected at least a 2 paragraph anecdote (possibly involving baby switching or birth certificate accidents) as an answer.
I guess I could still ask for 2 paragraphs but it wouldn't be as out of the ordinary. sad.gif

Hey Pufer, how old are you, and how does your age affect your worldview?

QUOTE (Luke @ May 31 2009, 01:51 PM)
How are you?

I'm alright. I'd probably be better if I wasn't frantically trying to finish off my law review write-on before 4pm tomorrow.

QUOTE (Luke @ May 31 2009, 02:56 PM)
Hey Pufer, how old are you, and how does your age affect your worldview?

I'm 24. I don't generally pay much attention to how old I am (I typically have to do the math before I can answer that question), people assume I'm older than I am, and I tend to hang out with folks who are older than me, so I'm not sure how my age affects my worldview one way or the other.

I don't have any particularly interesting stories about my birth itself except that I was a couple weeks late and had to be delivered via Caesarean section. Soon thereafter, however they decided that I was probably autistic and/or deaf given the lack of my making any sounds, and my feet were turned backwards. Turned out I was partially deaf (which has actually gotten better as the years have gone on, which is something I don't understand), probably wasn't autistic (or at least not meaningfully so), my tongue muscles were severely underdeveloped (explaining the lack of sound - I couldn't move my tongue), and I had some sort of tendon disorder in my legs.

As soon as I was able (and my parents were able to afford it) I started speech and occupational therapy. My speech was completely indecipherable until I was four or so, and didn't attain proficiency until the second grade (or thereabouts). I was able to walk very slowly, but it was more comfortable for me to walk with my feet turned entirely backwards than pointing forwards at all, so I fell down a lot (and looked stupid). As time progressed, I did better with the therapy (although my lower legs are still somewhat strange (my calf muscles are skewed towards the insides of my legs, the bones are bowed slightly outward, and my achilles tendons are so pronounced that I have to be careful in choosing shoes so that I don't rub through the skin covering them just by walking), and I still can't actually point my feet straight forward - to fit my feet on a scale at the doctor's office, for instance, I have to turn my feet out and cross them: fifth position in ballet). As far as I know, the first time I was ever able to run sorta' properly was in third grade (I got going and then fell soon thereafter into some sharp rocks, tearing gashes in my palms), but the therapy progressed quickly thereafter, however, and I was probably doing as well as I am now in fourth or fifth grade.

It's worth the read.

My mum thinks one of my friends may be slightly autistic because he's good a maths but not that good with English.

What's a clift?

Unlike, say, textbook reading, where you have to drag your eyes across the page, Pufer has almost mastered the art of infusing his words with energy and allowing them to drag your eyes across the page for you.
