You know Keanu Reeves will be starring, and you're still prematurely excited? Oh µ...
Yeah, Keanu Reeves as Spike? Really now...

Heh, I've found that the good anime series tend to be the ones around 26 episodes in length, while those that are syndicated (DBZ, Naruto, Bleach) tend to crap out.
Ones that run for 13 (one season) also tend to do well too. Agree on the 39, 52, and beyond, they always tend to drag out and lose momentum.

Any Hayao Miyazaki movie is worth seeing, in my opinion. Neon Genesis Evangelion is spectacular. Patlabor was a good movie, if slow moving. I also second Outlaw Star.
I loathe and despise NGE. Miyazaki (and Studio Ghibli in general) does make good movies.

While I did enjoy watching Cowboy Bebop, most live action movies based off an anime are a major disappointment.
Yeah, I haven't been too impressed with many live-action movies based off of anime, so I don't really have a high expectation for this one.

I only like Cowboy Bebop. I have yet to see another anime that holds up. The only exception might be found in a movie. (i.e Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away.. that sort of thing)
A lot of the ones Cartoon Network (and even the Sci-Fi channel and other popular TV stations) pick up and dub are the mainstream shows. There is a large percentage of shows that are novel and enjoyable, but that don't get picked up by the media, which is both understandable and unfortunate. In other words, there probably is something out there, you just haven't found it yet.
