it is real, M61 Vulcan, except it's normally mounted on aircraft :P

The key to my statement was the word portable. The minigun simply weighs too much to be carried around with the rather heavy gun itself, the thousand round ammo belts, and the 60lbs worth of heavy duty truck batteries necessary to run the thing. Not to mention that the recoil would be incredible with the top mounted grip (that is if the high speed spinning of the barrels didn't snap it from your hands immediately).

Anyway, that's a M-134, not a M-61. The difference is that the M-134 fires 7.62mm ammo (third from left in the below picture), whereas the Vulcan fires 20mm rounds (middle, blue bullet).

Although having a minigun that could fire 20mm rounds would be really cool. ;)

You would have to be quite overbuilt yourself to handle a 20mm minigun.

What is the left one, a tank round?

Having fired a .22, there isn't recoil. Having seen "only" a 50 caliber rifle fired by a profession bulked up to handle it... that's a lot of recoil. Like, forget being able to fire twice with any accuracy, fire it once then try to recover, the thing does it's best to blow the firer into the stratosphere. A machine gun bigger than that?
Haha, have fun.

I was talking about a stupidly heavy minigun, and how to use it without taking your shoulder off.

I think we ought to move the minigun discussion to a new thread; there's too many bad vibes around this one.

Generally, marimbas are good no matter what. Those vibes, though, they get old and bad fast.
