Does anyone use Fire for their buddy messaging needs? I downloaded it for IRC. Comments?

I think people used to prefer pigeons over fire. Less collateral impact that way.

Get X-Chat Aqua. That's your best hope. I have Fire, but I never use it. I didn't even know it did IRC.

I use Adium for regular AIM.

Open-source client for several chat protocols. It will do IRC, AIM, MSN, Jabber, and probably one or two that I missed... but it isn't that good in IRC.

For IRC, I use XChat. It is, in my opinion, the best IRC client out there.

That would likely get you a block if it came out of nowhere.

Then you would have to find me in IRC and convince me to unblock you.

I use Adium for AIM/GTalk, and Colloquy for IRC.

I hate people who actually think that for real... all my friends use it... it is easier to get slight privacy, but there is a topic somewhere (not even on these boards, I think over on sql4u.net) about people getting busted for talking about illegal stuff over AIM. They save your records...

But that's okay, I mean, at least they can provide you with great dialup.

No. It's not great. Most of your browser page is taken up with ads, you have to use the freakin' "portal" thing, it's horrible dial-up!

There was a day when AOL wasn't infested with ads... it was back when the ads would have added ten minutes to load time.

When I had AOL, we launched it and put it in the background, using a good browser instead.

I'm very happy to say that I've never had to deal with AOL outside of a couple former clients of my mac tech services.

Back in the day (1996-ish), we took a free month of AOL. We then proceeded to try to cancel the service, at which point they gave us another free month. This went on for six months. Then they said they wouldn't give us any more free and we dropped the service.

I'm sorry.

I had Juno for such a long time. It was free internet but would die on you every few minutes. (just so they could get you to subscribe to the $9.99 a month service) That was during my peak here, too. Weird.
