I didn't chase them away. In case you didn't notice, they left while I was gone. There were women aplenty the day I upped and vanished.

The least he could do to make up for it is smuggle Mexican females. Or maybe smuggle Canadian females in through Mexico.

As she is in the UK right now, I imagine that smuggling her would require rather more effort than usual.

Actually, between 600000 and 700000 women and children are smuggled annually, according to UNICEF's best estimates. The vast majority of them are forced into prostitution, though there is also a market for illegal adoption and slave-labour.

People smuggling is one of the most horrific industries on the planet, and I think it's safe to say that what we need is less of it, not more.

Very, very true. I thought the thing most shocking and disturbing was all the impressment after the tsunami. Thousands of homeless or lost kids wisked away to thailand and such for prostitution. Such an atrocity.

Darn right. You're all welcome to try. I'll gather a crowd of UK board denizens to watch and laugh. :P

Speaking of smuggling, today I got (as a present from our very own Lek -- apparently it's just not done to visit Nottingham and not get one) a toy bow and arrows (suction-cup of course) that I now have to figure out how to get home without breaking.

Very true.

Cleindori:
Get one of those cardboard picture tubes. That should bring the bow home, unless it's slightly big.

And you just came to mind when SA said somethinga about female Canadians.

We've always made out better with shipping things to ourselves using one of the global shipping companies (insured, of course) than carrying it in our luggage. We've even, upon occasion, shipped our entire suitcases back from overseas rather than having to lug the lot (minus camera bags, laptops, papers, and an extra change of clothing) through various airports on the return trip. Especially on trans-continental flights, luggage tends to take quite a beating.

You obviously have no idea how quickly the A-Team could assemble, dispose of the BnB (UK charter), and capture you to bring you back to our secret underground lair.

Resistance is futile.

Impressment: The act of impressing people or property into public service or use. Websters Dictionary

Impress: To press or force into service. Also websters.

It is a term you learn in U.S. History. When the sailors were impressed or conscripted into service for the British navy...I just modified the usage here.
