I think if we sack µ, all of our problems will go away.
Pah, µ has been shown to keep things moving around here in the past, it stands to reason that she will continue to do so in the future, no need to sack her.

Or it could be this massive influx of new people..
Nah, the influx of fresh blood will only serve to help out the board in the long run. Right now they're all just going through their rookie seasons with us and it will just take a while until they either settle into the natural rhythm of things, leave, or are impaled on one of the pikes that SA has set up just outside the gates.

Quality has gone down a tick or two. Maybe you guys are losing people to B&B. *Gasp!*
If anything, we're gaining members from the B&B. Jon, the lovely Cleindori, Lektor, Rickton, and yourself are all recent additions from that side of the fence, we've really not "lost" anyone.

I think that more attempts to stay remotely on topic would indeed help considerably. Like if the topic if were about freeing tibet, inappropriate posts would be "wang", or "µ is cute".

While "wang" style posts, for the most part, have never been acceptable, the ATT exists on a foundation of randomness and off-topic conversations. Our high post to topic ratio is based on our unwillingness to create new topics simply because we've shifted the focus of the topic at hand.

I would slightly disagree with the one about staying on topic. While it is good to stay on topic to a point, this board's claim to fame is amorphous, fast-paced topics. Now, that doesn't mean dumb, one-word posts, but we risk becoming B&B junior if we stay too much on topic in every topic.
I agree with your points entirely, only I'd classify my disagreement level as being more along the lines of respectfully taking major exception to the staying on topic aspect of the etiquette guidelines.
While perhaps the ideal format our esteemed moderator would like to see in effect here, that guideline currently doesn't accurately represent the form the ATT has taken, nor does that it have anything to do with what has been happening here for as long as I've been frequenting this board. Certainly our current rapid-fire format often degrades quickly, in a matter of two or three posts sometimes, into a pile of worthless and substanceless crap, but it is the preferred format of the people and represents the reason why many of us return to this board day after day. As a result of this, of course, an increased workload is placed on the moderating staff who has to, so to speak, "put an end to the madness" on a regular basis. For this I'd like to apologise to SA as he should almost certainly have more help in keeping the peace around here, but I see no reason why our current format should be legislated out of existence simply because it would be more tidy or easy to moderate.
As I say this, however, I do realize that this isn't a democracy and our babbling about the format has nothing to do with what happens here and I will certainly respect whatever our beloved Sundered Angel decides to do about this area of the ATT guidelines. Of course, if my colleagues here are all in favor of a format shift, feel free to pelt and berate me with your words over this (also, if you, SA, feel this is some sort of undue criticism (which I assure you it is not, I mean no disrespect at all) and would like it edited out of this post or me to leave the ATT and never return, or perhaps leap off a bridge, simply contact me and I will comply (well, with the possible exeption of the bridge part
)).
