Stopping that much water might be beyond his capabilities, unless his master had an interest in stopping it. He already knew that wouldn't happen. No, his master wanted to see if the group could survive this on its own. The power his master had given him was considerable (at least so these mortals would think-himself, he knew that his power was merely an echo of his master's)-for this task, it should suffice.
The figure, once again, paused to consider his choices. He was permitted to intervene, if necessary. If he was forced to do so, he was to attempt to do it in such a manner as to avoid being noticeable.
That could be difficult in the current circumstances, he thought, However, it might be possible. Maybe...
A small portal opened and the figure quickly stepped through it. In the moment before it closed after him, the ethereal void was visible. The figure reappeared near the graveyard but hidden from the group and anyone else who might be around.
As he watched, he called upon his extensive knowledge of the dark arts. In the middle of Desert Fox's small army, a wave of dark power erupted, catching Desert Fox's forces off guard. Buffeted by the wave, they were scattered and their formation was disrupted. However, they quickly discovered that the wave had a more insidious effect. The actual forms of some of them began to lose cohesion. They had to struggle to maintain until the effect wore off, giving the group a small window of attack.
The figure smiled; however, he knew that without the element of surprise he probably wouldn't have succeeded and such an attack would probably not work again. It would be best to act now while he had an advantage. One of of the shadow warriors had come his way and was looking for him. Grinning with malice, the figure stepped forward, letting the shadow around him fall enough for the warrior to see him. The shadow warrior paused and charged, swinging its sword. The figure with long talons that had sprouted from his hand. Suddenly, a writhing limbs seemed to sprout from his cloak and fling themselves at the warrior. Attacked on all sides, the warrior tried to retreat, flinging a bolt of power at the figure. The figure responded with a wave of power that threw the warrior back onto one of its talons. The form of the warrior dissolved quickly.
The figure stepped back and let the remains fall. The real Desert Fox will be much more of a challenge, he thought. Looking around, he made sure that no one had seen him. He hid himself again in his cloak and let the shadow deepen around him.
Then, another portal opened and he entered. The portal closed behind him, leaving no sign of his presence other than the damage he had caused.
Selax threw himself forward into Balthon. Both of them still held their swords, but the two were now so near to each other that swordplay would more likely harm themselves than their opponent. Selax kicked Balthon in the side, receiving a punch in return. The two exchanged hard blows, until the ground shook. Startled, both leapt away from each other. Then, they saw the water coming at them. Now, both were indecisive about what to do. To continue the conflict on the ground would be foolish but to take to air with metal swords was a good way to hit with lightning. Eventually, they came to the same conclusion. Both leapt into the air, hid their swords away, and continued to fight. Even with the swords removed, neither could seem to gain an advantage over the other for long.

I am going to try to move events along a little. If anyone whose character is used wants me to edit something just let me know.
*BiC*
Selax and Balthon continued their struggle, forgetting their surroundings. However, when they hit they hit the ground headfirst, they quickly remembered what was happening around them.
Hidden from the battle by some of the gravestones and a few trees, they prepared to attack each other again, but, as they moved forward, two events caused them to change their minds.
First, Avatara staggered out from behind a headstone and stopped, staring at the two elementals with a surprised look on his face.
Second, all three heard and then saw the wall of water rushing at them.
Balthon halted, looked at Selax, and smiled.
"I'll kill you later!" he shouted over the roar. He leapt into the air and soared away.
Selax looked from where Balthon had gone to the water to Avatara and then to where the others were. He quickly considered his options. Not all of the others could fly and some of those that couldn't would not be able to escape the water without help. He would have to do what he could.
"I'll explain later! Come on," he yelled at Avatara,"we have to get out if we can."
Avatara yelled something back, but Selax couldn't quite hear him over the din. However, he realized from Avatara's gestures and hobbling that he had a problem with his leg.
This is most inconvenient, he thought. At that moment, the water smashed into the graveyard. In the instant before it struck, Selax grabbed Avatara and leapt into the air, soaring to a safe height. Below him, Selax watched the water cover all the land nearby except the hills and Catamarca. There was no sign of Moonshadow, Tej, Medoc, or anyone for that matter. There was no way the two of them could find the others under these conditions. There was only place to go for now.
Selax landed in the middle of Catamarca and the two of them began to make their way to the inn, where they found Wizard still sleeping by the door.
The tall figure continued to watch from the top of one of the hills. The dark army had not survived, but had anyone of the small group survive? He didn't know and time was precious. He would have to locate who he could and help them to be on time. He waited and his master permitted him to try his plan. His shape began to warp and change. When the strange alteration, a man dressed in black mage garb stood where the figure had. Slowly, the man began to make his way down the hill. The water was beginning to calm and he didn't find it difficult to augment his abilities enough to swim in the still treacherous current. He made swift progress, despite often stopping to look for any sign of life.

Tej dreamt of his life before his village was slaughtered. He was playing in the cave light with one of his friends when a skeleton warrior came out of no where. This wasn't apart of Tej's memories, the skeleton drew its sword and brought it down crashing into his skull.
He regained conciseness after he hit a tree, instinctively, he grabbed on. After some effort, Tej managed to surface, and get a deep breath of air. He looked around at his surroundings but could only see the water in front of him, the level started to lower, but the current was still strong and he was getting cold.
Concentrating on creating light, he barely noticed the tree starting to give to the current of the flood. As the water expanded, the outer edge of Catamarca was kind of flooded with about a foot of water. Tej finally was able to transform into a storm crow and rose up into the wind, he noticed some movement in the water and went to help out.

OOC: Sorry for the very long absence. I've been incredibly busy. Anyways, since some of the party is now almost at the graveyard, all of the events in this story aspect started by someone I can't remember have now passed. Therefore, it is sensible to say that somehow, Martel will have to kill 24 guards on his own. I say this so that when it eventually happens, it will not seem contrivedly unrealistic.

"So," his said to Avatara,"would you like to hear the story tonight or wait until tomorrow, when someone has had time to do something about your ankle?"
The tall man continued to search through the flood, but he had still not found anything.

As he tried to rise, he felt torn apart all over. He tried in anguish to get up, and as he finally started to move, his head started throbbing fiercely, sending DF back to the ground writhing.
hah! DF thought he must have not recalled a shadow warrior before its death. Would explain the haziness of my head and the aches all over my body, as well as why his mind seems broken right now.
He started looking around the area he was in and sensed peril of an extreme degree headed his way. Out of reflex, DF disappeared and ran, using one of his shadow spells to boost his speed and cloak him from view.

Saria had run out of view of the rest of the group. Wasnt her intention, but something was happening elsewhere and it was guiding her somehow.
She felt the mind of another race away, out of sight and mind of anyone else, and she just had to know...
(ooc): sorry, but im dropping both my characters out due to my inability to be here. Ill drop in from time to time, and might even throw this in as a side story, but please continue a quest. Any quest, just so long as its entertaining .

"We can't," Selax's voice was calm, unemotional. "You can't." Avatara had risen to his feet.
"What? Just wat-aah!" his leg burned with pain and he collapsed on the floor, holding his ankle tightly, noticing it didn't feel right. "That's no sprained ankle!" he said through clenched teeth.
"What now?" Wizard asked Selax, standing up.
"Don't let me hold you back. Find the others, or some of them might not last overnight!" Avatara managed to crawl onto a bed and stared up at the ceiling for a few moments. "Selax, we'll have to talk later. Just, for now, go! Find them!" he sighed and tried to rest but he couldn't forget that last look in Saria's eyes.

With that he stepped to the window, opened it, and disappeared outside, closing the window behind him.

Avatara glanced at him and then back to the ceiling. He nodded, “Yes.”
“Well. . . . I’m afraid that she’s on her own now,” Wizard sighed with a worried tone.
“I have the medallion. If we can use it to find DF, then we’ll know where she’s going, and maybe we can help them both,” Avatara stated as he pulled the item from a shirt pocket.
“It probably won’t work,” Wizard responded eyeing the medallion. He continued, recounting his story slowly, “The previous conditions that it worked under no longer exist. Earlier this evening, as you will recall, I left the group. I ended up at Catamarca, where I helped DF free himself. I very much doubt that the medallion will enable us to contact him unless, he takes time to focus on it. But I am convinced that he is still fighting a battle with another being that is inside him. . . . No, I don’t believe that we can rely on the medallion”
Avatara sat up for a moment and thought. Then after a minute or so he spoke up on a different subject, “You’d better get going. Selax is gonna wonder where you are.”
“You mustn’t blame yourself for not stopping her, you did your best.” With that, Wizard walked to the door. He opened it, slowly walked out, and shut it gently behind him.

Wizard met Selax outside, “He’ll be fine; he needs to rest, though. Oh, I’’m quite revived after those hours of sleep earlier. I’d almost forgotten what such peaceful sleep was like, but now, to work.”
The two started to head to the graveyard, silently pondering the events of the evening and the events to come.

"I think you should stay back here and try using your telepathy to find the others. Contact me if you find any sign of them. I'll see what can be seen from a higher height."
With that, he flew upwards and began to carefully observe the water below for any signs of movement.

Soaring above the valley, Moonshadow scanned the ground for signs of her companions, silently cursing the rain and lack of light that had probably saved her earlier.
Now if I was an owl... she mused to herself, beating her wings to gain height as she approached the dam. Something was off about the structure, she noted. She had just barely made out the flickering light of torches earlier, but now all was dark atop the dam, and if she could have frowned, she would. Curiosity piqued, she adjusted her direction, folding her wings to speed up her descent. Despite the dark, she could just barely make out the shapes of bodies lying on the ground. At the last moment, she extended her wings again to catch her near-fall, taking a moment to steady herself in midair before transfroming back and dropping soundlessly to the ground, landing in a crouch, one hand going out automatically to steady herself as the superior eyesight of a falcon left her. She frowned - apparently she had put her hand in something warm, wet and..slightly sticky? Then her sense of smell, better than that of the falcon, returned and she almost gagged. Blood!
Before she could act, she heard the voice, somewhere off to her right. "I must go to speak with your companions still, so you must hold the bridge! Good luck." Under different circumstances, she might have called the distinctly female voice pleasant. There was a flash of magic, the soft sound of a sword being unsheathed, then...
"Here I go..."
Moonshadow tilted her head. That voice sounded familiar - one of her traveling companions! What was his name... Malec... Medoc? No... Should have paid more attention. Something starting with M anyway...Martel, right!
So she had found one of her companions at least. Relieved, Moonshadow stood up, turning to face the direction where she had heard the voice from. After a few moments, she could make him out.
"Martel." She greeted softly, smiling very slightly as his eyes widened.
"Wha- who.. Moonshadow?" He asked, sounding a bit disbelieving.
She nodded. "Quite so. What are you -"
"I will explain later." He cut her off, speaking quietly but urgently. "Now that we are two, things should work better."
Moonshadow frowned again, not liking the sound of this at all. "What do you mean?"
"I will explain." He repeated. "But later. For now, you need to-"
She never heard what he thought she needed to do, because without any warning, the ground beneath them shook - it wasn't even a very stong tremor, and over relatively fast, but as they caught their balance, she could make out a strange sound from below. The structure they were both standing on seemed to be creaking, as if... her eyes widened in realization and horror as the sound grew louder, and judging by the look on Martel's face, he had heard it too. She knew she could get away, but he...
Martel was thinking fast - probably faster than he had in a long time. Going straight ahead would be faster, but if he had understood correctly, the guards' encampment was almost directly at the end of the bridge, and he had little hope they would just let them pass through. So the only way to go was back.
"This way," he urged, turning and heading back in the direction he came from, only glancing back once to make sure she was following. They both spead up their steps, breaking into an all-out run as the creaking became ever louder and the dam began to shake again, the pressure put on it by the water quickly becoming too much for the damaged structure.
Above the sound, they could hear voices calling out - some in triumph, others in confusion and fear - from the other side of the dam, but they paid it little mind.
Then they had reached the other side, and just as they burst off the dam and into the trees growing growing on the cliff beyond, the creaking stopped as the dam finally gave in, the water tearing it apart and crashing down into the valley below.
Breathing heavily, Moonshadow turned around to stare silently at the rushing water, her face even paler than usual as only one thought ran through her mind over and over. They are still down there. They were moving through this valley. They are still down there.
"Please, let them have gotten away." She whispered to whatever deity might be willing to listen to her. She certainly wouldn't be picky.
Then she recalled she hadn't seen any sign of them earlier, so maybe... Standing up straighter, she nodded to herself before turning to Martel. "I will look for them by air. Can you..." She hesitated.
"I will look for them as best as I can, and meet you in Catamarca. I think that is where they will have gone if they made it out of there."
Moonshadow flinched slightly at his choice of words, but nodded in agreement nonetheless. "Right. Off we go then."
With that, she leapt off the cliff, transforming into the white bird of prey in mid-fall.
Some hours later she had still not found anyone. Unwilling to give up yet nearly unable to continue, she grumbled to herself about the frailty of mortal bodies. However despite her complaints she wasn't getting any less exhausted, so she had to concede the best thing to do would be to land and rest - and continue later.
So with a heavy heart she turned to fly towards Catamarca, hoping that Martel would have more luck.
A few minutes later she landed in front of the inn, reflecting that the innkeeper probably wouldn#t be too happy to be woken up at this time of night, but too tired to actually care.
As the poor man shuffled to the door of his inn after she had knocked several times, she could hear him grumble about visitors coming in such ungodly hours of the night, and this being the second time.
Her eyes - which had been dropping close on their own account - shot open at this. Second time? Maybe... As the door opened, she asked immediately. "Did you say second time?"
The innkeeper blinked owlishly at the woman standing in front of him, and she repeated her question, sounding rather impatient, and also quite anxious. "Yes," he grumbled. "But two already left."
"So there's another? Where?" Moonshadow demanded.
"Second room on the right down that corridor," the innkeeper mumbled. "But ..." He stopped as the woman brushed past him and down the corridor. For a moment he considered stoppping her, then he shrugged and decided he was too tired and went back to bed.
As she reached the right door, Moonshadow stopped as it occured to her that whoever was occupying the room might be sleeping. Then she shrugged, opening the door as quietly as she could and peering inside. Indeed, the occupant was sleeping. Silently she stepped inside and closed the door behind her. A closer look revealed the person to be Avatara. So that meant that he and two others had made it - or one other, if Martel had found them. She'd have to ask in the morning, but for now.. she looked around, noticing a chair in the corner, and went over to make herself as comfortable on it as was possible, belatedly remembering she had not rented a room herself.
Closing her eyes, she almost immediately fell asleep.

Selax sighed inwardly. This would be his third trip over the water. Wizard would be using his telepathy to check the forests. It was simply too dangerous right now to enter the woods in the dark. Being made of air, he didn't need to breathe—an ability which enabled him to survive under more hostile conditions than most beings. (Although he didn't have to breathe, he did have to concentrate on holding himself together in airless environments, which could affect his alertness to a sometimes large degree.) However, water was another element and he could not survive under there indefinitely. There was really no point to diving anyway; any person (or body) would probably be on the surface. He turned back toward the graveyard. Maybe Wizard had found something.
The strange man watched Selax leave. When the man had first detected the elemental, he had dived beneath the water and had waited for the elemental to leave. Even from underwater, his sharp eyesight and keen senses had enabled him to see Moonshadow, Selax, and Tej, although none of these there could see the other in the light. Now, two of those meddlers were gone and the third had disappeared from sight. The man came to the surface, pondering his next move.
Desert Fox had gone and the opportunity was lost for the moment. There was now no need to help the group...for the moment anyway. Letting the shadow around him deepen, he shifted into his true form and made his way to the trees. Here, he disappeared.
Master, what are your instructions? the being asked.

Selax had flown a ways ahead, searching everywhere else, but Wizard doubted that he would find anything. It’s too dark, he thought to himself. Then he sensed someone. Two. Ah, Moonshadow and Martel survived, but what of the others? Have they been washed out to sea or drowned in a deluge of water? Only time can tell.
It was then that Wizard focused his attention on something else—the graveyard. What had DF been doing there? Wizard ceased his telepathic search and slowly walked nearer the burial grounds. The gate creaked a little as he opened it. Eventually, Wizard had strolled past each headstone, examining them carefully. This is fruitless, Wizard told himself. I wonder what’s over here. He moved cautiously to the point where DF had stood earlier that evening, slightly outside of the graveyard. What is buried here, separate from the others?
Suddenly Selax glided to the ground and tapped Wizard’s shoulder. “Ohh,” Wizard yelped as he turned around. “Oh, Selax. You startled me. Did you find anything?”
Selax shook his head, “You?”
“No, but Moonshadow and Martel are back at the inn now. We might have to wait till morning to find the others. I don’t detect them now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are lifeless. They could have been swept many miles in any direction. In that scenario, I cannot find them from here without using a lot of power. I just got rested up, so I think the wisest choice we have is to stay here. If they’re alive, they’ll know where to come” Here Wizard hesitated.
Then his thoughts went back to earlier, when he had felt Selax nearby, there was another that was there. “Selax, who were you fighting with? When you left the group back in the valley, I know that you don’t have instant teleportation powers. Who took you? And who did you go to fight? You’ve known of the presence of this other being for a while. The assassin back at Odemia—the work of this person. There are still several points that are confusing me though. Would it be too much to ask for you to enlighten me?”

"I would prefer to tell you at the same time that I tell Avatara. It is a long story and I don't wish to have to repeat it. As for the assassin and the one responsible for the teleportation, I know nothing about the former and the latter is a strange woman whom I have not encountered before and who has some interesting abilities. Martel can explain better. Is that acceptable for now?"

“Is anyone out there” Medoc called out. A few seconds later he felt this timgle in the back of his mind, he knew he had felt it somewhere before, then he remembered that it was Mr Wizard, ‘he must have senced me call out’.
About a minute later Mr Wizard appeared from behind the trees, “Its good to see you again, he thought we may have lost you. A few of the others are back at the Inn, I will meet you back there” Then he turned around and disapeared into the forest.
It had stopped raining at this stage, Medoc looked up at the sky to get his rough orientation and headed towards the Inn.

BIC: A man in his early twenties sat at a table leaning against the table hevily
Why am I doing this? Why am I wasting my life away in a glass of beer?
The man leaned back tiredly still berating himself for drinking, and then he began to remember
He remembered when he ment something to his village and had been the local hero, protecting the village from everything, everything except that is from a mysterious wanderer. He had come through the village one day and right after that a, a plague had hit the village, killing everyone, only the man had lived, probably because he lived in a small hut away from the village. He had spent several years as a mercinary hiring out to random people, but he wasn't always doing things he agreed with, and it was the latest thing an assignment to kill a little girl that had led here, he just couldn't kill her and so here he was drinking himself into poverty and idiocy as well
STOP IT, STOP DRINKING AND FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF AND GET UP!
The man climbed werily to his feet and got a room for the night, then went to sleep his hangover off.

Selax had been invisible and asleep in the corner of the room where everyone else was. He woke up soon after Tej came in, having gotten as much sleep (an hour or two) as he usually needed. When he looked around, he noted that everyone else was still asleep. He figured that it would be best to let them rest. At least for a little while.
