I miss those.

Right now I'm using a one-button optical mouse that came with the black keyboard style (now they're solid white, I think). I've gotten used to control-clicking to compensate, its almost a second nature.

My parents use a one-button mouse on my old G3, and there's effectively one on this iBook when I'm roaming around (it's connected to a full-size keyboard and mouse when it's sat on my desk)... but I've been a Mac user long enough for the whole one button/two buttons thing not to be a problem.
What does catch me out is a lack of scrollwheel - I have uControl installed on my iBook, which means I can scroll by holding fn and mousing up and down (makes more sense with a trackpad - think about it)... so every time I use a computer not equipped with a scroll mouse, I usually get caught by a complete lack of lazy scrolling :P

I'm odd... bite me.

I found a way for them to fit in my hand nicely. As it is, I have a habit of only really grasping the bottom half of my current mouse anyway.

I'm still used to have a scroll wheel. I've got control clicking down, but every now and the I hit my mouse right where the scroll wheel should be. Then there's my habit of try to do windows keyboard commands on my mac and mac keyboard commands on my windows. :P

I've recently moved the entire Pufer-fleet over to Logitech MX 310's. I used to have a hodge-podge of mice hooked up to my various computers, but all had two buttons all the way back to my original computer (Mac LCII, had a Logitech mouse that was actually shaped like a mouse (the animal) and you clicked with it's ears, right-click=hold click). My previous full-fleet update had been to Interex ADB two-button mice, but, as you can imagine, that was back when the Super-7500 (Powermac 7500/100 upgraded to within an inch of its life) was the newest computer I owned. I received a MX 310 at work and I got so used to the back and forward buttons on the sides of the mouse that I had to upgrade everything back here at home (I'd been using scroll wheels on my home computers already for a couple years now).

Of course, I'm also exceptionally good at flying around text documents with nothing but keyboard arrow keys and scroll buttons due to my use of a WebTV box for webboard purposes which is not equipped with any type of mouse at all.

what do the two arrow buttons, and the three non-left/right click, non-scroll wheel buttons do?

The two buttons on the side work as forward and back buttons (think web browser), the buttons on either side of the scroll wheel are scroll buttons if you wanted to scroll faster than you could by simply spinning the wheel around over and over again, and the other center button activates an application switcher window (list of all open applications opens up where ever your cursor is on the screen). Of course, all buttons can be customized if you were so inclined. Bow down to the greatness of the Logitech mouse.

Get an older black Apple keyboard and a newer white one. Take off all the keys. Make pattern.
